The Christmas Tag!

The Christmas Tag!
Thursday, 22 December 2016
Read post

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
This is such a hard question because it pretty much changes every year (plus I couldn't possibly just choose one). My top five would probably be Elf, The Grinch, Home Alone 2, It's a Wonderful Life and Arthur Christmas!

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas morning. When we were little, my sister and I would be allowed to open one present on Christmas Eve but now we just open them all on Christmas morning.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
I don't have a specific memory, but every year at Christmas my whole family goes to my Gran and Grandad's house in the morning and it's my favourite thing. When we were little my sister and I would get so excited about showing our cousins what we got for Christmas. Now when we go we end up getting a little bit too merry too early in the morning because our Gran and Grandad like to keep us topped up with Bacardi and Whiskey!

4. Favourite festive food?
I'm actually not too fussed about Christmas dinner in it's entirety. My favourite festive food would probably have to be Terrys Chocolate Oranges - they just remind me of Christmas!

5. Favourite Christmas gift?
It's so cliche to say but I genuinely love all the gifts I receive. I do look forward to opening the one's from my sister the most though because she's usually the only one that doesn't tell me what she's got me, plus she knows me so well that its usually something amazing.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Obviously cinnamon is a popular Christmas scent. I also love the smell of spiced apple, like hot Cider!

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
We usually go to the cinema in the evening then I come home, have a nice bath, put on a brand new pair of comfy PJS and watch the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special.

8. What tops your tree?
We have a star for our tree but I absolutely hate it so I mixed it up this year and covered it with this:

9. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
I love the lead up to Christmas more than the actual day. Watching Christmas films, listening to Christmas songs, lighting Christmas candles, seeing family - all of it is wonderful.

10. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
Honestly, I like both. Everyone likes getting presents and I'm not different, but I do love seeing people's faces when I get them something they want :-)

11. What is your favourite Christmas song?
This is the hardest question ever. I could never pick just one but I have put together a Christmas playlist that you can check out HERE - it has all my fave Christmas songs on!

Last minute gift guide!

Last minute gift guide!
Sunday, 18 December 2016
Read post

I am usually pretty good with Christmas presents, I usually make sure I'm all sorted by late November/Early December at the latest but this year I've been putting it off and putting it off (I literally ordered them the other day and they are due to arrive on 23rd December *looks sheepish*). So for those of you, like me, that have left it a little bit late I've put together a little gift guide from places that guarantee to get your gifts to you before Christmas Eve!

1) Lush goodies
This is always a good bet for a secret Santa gift or a stocking filler because who doesn't love a good bath bomb? I love how Lush bring out special products for Christmas (and Halloween for that matter) and they're not too expensive so they're great if you're on a budget!

2) Books, Journals or Stationary
Christmas is the perfect time for giving/receiving journals because it's so close to the start of a new year (obvs). I bought my sister the Q&A a day 5-year journal for Christmas this year because she's just started Uni this year and I thought that it would be cool for her to see how much she changes over the next 5 years from going through uni, to graduating etc. Stationary is always a winner for me, personally. I love all the stuff from Bando!

3) Cocktail making setLet's be honest, for the majority of us that like a drink, Christmas is a time for constant alcohol consumption. From around the 23rd December up until the 2nd January I seem to be functioning in a constant state of merry intoxication! Thus, I find presents relating to alcohol brilliant especially the adorable Oil Slick Cocktail making set from Urban Outfitters! Last year my sister bought me a book called "Gone With The Gin" with loads of cocktail recipes based on films - it's absolutely fabulous!

4) MugsEverybody loves a good mug. It's just one of those things where you really can't go wrong. I LOVE slogan mugs, I have so many in my cupboard that I am literally running out of room. Whether you're a tea drinker, a coffee drinker or a Thai Matcha Lemon and Peppermint Camomile drinker - ya still  need a mug!

5) Face-masks Personally, face-masks are one of those things that I absolutely love doing but I rarely remember to buy for myself so they're the ideal gift for me at Christmas. They just feel special! Not to mention you can get cheap ones that are really great for your skin.

6) Make-upI think some form of make-up is on every single girl I knows wish list for Christmas (including my own). At the moment, I'm obsessed with everything NYX! I love their lip glosses because they just have the most perfect look and they don't dry out your lips.

7) Pajamas!
I'm a sucker for a cute pair of pajamas. Every Christmas Eve I have a bath and put on a brand new pair of pajamas and it's the best feeling! ASOS and New Look are totally winning the cute PJs game right now so you should def check them out!

I hope you enjoyed my gift guide! I'd love to hear what you'd suggest so feel free to leave a comment below!

Blogmas day 1: The perfect Christmas playlist!

Blogmas day 1: The perfect Christmas playlist!
Friday, 2 December 2016
Read post

So this year I've decided that I'm going to attempt to do Blogmas. I say 'attempt' because I am probably the world's worst at sticking to things that I intend on seeing through (hobbies, diets - you name it, I've quit it). But nonetheless, you have my word that I will make a concerted effort to see this through!

Just to ease myself in, I thought that I would do one of my favourite posts - a playlist! It goes without saying that Christmas and music go hand-in-hand and I for one am a sucker for a good Christmas tune so I've put together a little playlist of all of my faves. Although it is obviously packed full of the classics, there are a few that don't often appear in your average festive playlist (i.e. Christmas in Hollis by Run-DMC, which is my favourite Christmas song) so let me know what you think!

(P.S. The playlist is entitled 'Sleighhhh' as in like 'slay' but Christmassy - get it?! Lols).

Staying positive while everything goes wrong.

So, obviously for a lot of people 2016 hasn't been great. We've had too many celebrity deaths, Brexit and now Donald Trump- it's no wonder people (myself included) have begun to lose faith in the world... it's even causing Kanye to have a break down for goodness sake.

But what I have realised is that losing faith and becoming disillusioned isn't going to help anything so instead, I've decided to keep a positive attitude. Which is probably easier said than done, but I am going to try! The thing that gives me hope is the statistics from Brexit and the US Election that show that if it was only millennial's votes that were counted, both outcomes would have been different. The younger generation (that I am part of) are wising up to all the shit! We get a lot of stick for being too 'liberal' and I've even heard my own family members saying that he younger generation consists of 'spoilt brats' (which may in some cases be true) but the vast majority of people my age, that I know, are intelligent, forward-thinking people- and I would rather be accused of being too liberal than the opposite. So I'm hopeful that in the future, the younger generation will be able to change the shit that's being left to them. We can change the things that our parents couldn't!

I'd love to hear your opinions so let me know what you think in the comments!

My week in pictures

My week in pictures

Read post
Working from home can sometimes (a lot of the time) get pretty boring, but this past week I've actually been pretty busy! I have seen other bloggers do posts like this before and I've always loved them, because I love looking at the pictures and finding out about people's everyday life, so I thought that I would give it a go myself!

Early on in the week my mum and I went to visit my little sister in London. She's in her first year of uni there and (like the absolute doughnut that she is) accidentally broke her arm whilst apparently having too much fun. So obviously we went to make sure she's alright - it definitely wasn't just an excuse for a nice day out in London *eye roll emoji*. Anyways, the day was perfect. We walked around Hyde Park (aka my favourite place in London), had cocktails at Southbank and ate too much Mexican street food!

Then on Thursday I went to Northampton for a job interview. Even though interviews are obviously daunting and literally make me FTFO, it also kinda made me feel good. Like a real adult trying to get her life together. Afterwards I treated myself to a walk around Abington park (my favourite place in Northampton - not quite sure why all my favourite places are parks, I just like being around nature OK) and I loved how pretty it looked. Autumn really is my favourite season, I love the colours and the weather - especially when the sun is out but it's a bit chilly, when you can wear a leather jacket, a scarf AND sunglasses without looking weird.

Finally, on Friday I had to venture in to town for a dreaded eye test. Anyone who knows me knows how absolutely awful my eyesight is, I LIVE in contact lenses, so I always dread getting my eyes tested. My fear was all for nothing though as it turns out everything is fine and my eyes are completely healthy and haven't deteriorated. Nevertheless, for being a big, brave girl I decided to treat myself to one of the DELICIOUS new Costa Christmas drinks. I chose a salted caramel cappuccino because cappuccinos are literally bae and caramel is my fave = win win situation.

I actually really enjoyed doing this post because it kinda felt like a scrapbook diary! What do you guys think of posts like this? Let me know in the comments & also let me know what you've been up to.

Easy Halloween make-up!

Easy Halloween make-up!
Monday, 24 October 2016
Read post

Every year at Halloween I'm faced with the same problem. What can I go as that doesn't cost too much money? If you, like me, are faced with the same stress - I've found something that's easy and cheap! An alien!

All you need to do is buy one colour of face paint (I chose blue but green, pink, purple etc. would work just as well) and use make-up that you already have!
All I did was cover my entire face with the blue face paint, then I used the Urban Decay Vice 4 palette to add different dimensions to my face (i.e. contours, highlights, darkness under the eyes). It's easy as pie and doesn't break the bank (especially as you can just wear clothes that you already have).

Let me know what you plan on going as for Halloween!

I've only ever written a blog post like this once before. I don't often sit and write about my feelings, but everyone knows how good it is for your mental health to write things down rather than to keep them circling around in your head, so I thought that I would do it! I hope that you don't find this post to wordy and boring and hopefully at least one person will be able to relate!

My one other blog post like this one spoke about how I struggled to choose a career path and only really realised what I wanted to do in my last year of university. Since then, I graduated and managed to snag myself a social media marketing internship (digital marketing is what I realised I wanted to do, btw). This is all great but, as with all internships, it is inevitably going to end. Obviously, I want to be as prepared as possible and (ideally) have another job before my internship comes to a close. Which leads me to the topic of this post: it's fucking hard for young people to get jobs these days! Am I right?! I've been constantly applying - I've probably applied for more than 100 jobs and almost all jobs ask for a minimum of 1-2 years experience in the particular field. The thing is though, how are you supposed to get experience if nowhere will let you gain experience if you don't have experience? It's a vicious cycle! I purposely got an internship in order to gain experience but it seems even that isn't enough.
Tbh, it's really been getting me down. I had a little bit of a breakdown the other day after finding out that I didn't get a job that I interviewed for in London. I don't even think it was to do with the job itself, that was just the breaking point. I know that knock-backs are a part of life but it really starts to feel like all hope is lost. You pay £9,000 a year for a degree, you take part in internship programs and extracurricular activities to make yourself stand out from other applicants and it just doesn't seem to be enough. Another thing is, I don't think older generations realise how hard it is for us young people. They remember a time when you left school and there was a job there waiting for you, but now you're competing with hundreds of other people for the same job. They think we're lazy and entitled but the fact of the matter is, a lot of young people just can't get work.

I went on a long rant (cry) to my dad about how I would never get a job in what I want to do and how I'm going to have to just get a job that I don't want and be miserable for the rest of my life (a bit dramatic, I know, but at the time it felt legit). He told me that I need to be strong and not let anyone tell me that I can't do what I want to do in life - and he's right. I'm going to keep on keeping on, it's just hard not to get downhearted.

An Autumn Playlist

Anyone that knows me knows that making playlists is one of my all time favourite things to do. When I was still at University I physically could not start my work until I had made a playlist to listen to in the background (procrastination at it's finest). So, obviously, as it is Autumn I thought that I would make a short playlist to share with you some of my favourite songs right now.

I would love to hear what you've been listening to recently, so feel free to drop me a comment and let me know!

Hiya October, I've been waiting for you!
I literally love October so much - when the sun shines but it's cold enough to wear a leather jacket, when the spiced apple candles come out and when it's socially acceptable to stay in your pajamas all day (nice & cosy) and not leave the house.

Beauty
Micellar Water
I used to absolutely love using Micellar Water and this past month I've rediscovered my love for it! My skin has been an absolute disaster recently- greasy, spot prone, visible pores - you name it, I've had it! So I wanted to properly strip back my skincare routine and just use minimal products instead of piling on all sorts of things that are meant to be beneficial, but end up actually suffocating the skin. I've been using the Nivea Daily Essentials one and it's been doing the job perfectly!

Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess
I'm not sure if I've mentioned this perfume before, but if I have it's worth mentioning again! I was lusting after this perfume last year so I decided to pick it up from duty free before heading off to Paris. Needless to say, I wore it the entire time I was in Paris and also most days since. I absolutely love the Summery smell (kind of vanilla-y) and every time I spray it, it sends me straight back to Paris!

Fashion
Bomber jackets
I have LIVED in these recently. I absolutely love them and now, thanks to New York/London/Paris fashion week, they're both casual and fashionable.

TV/Film
 Power
I started watching this last week and in one day I ended up watching it for 6 hours straight (oops). It's just so brilliant though! Its all the drama you need.

The Office
This is more like a lifetime favourite because it is my favourite TV show ever but I've just started rewatching it and I was reminded of how much I absolutely adore it.

YouTube
Grace Victory
I've been getting back in to watching YouTube videos this past month and Grace has been my absolute favourite of the lot. She's so honest and passionate and she talks about things that most people would cringe at the thought of. I kind of hate when people put on a 'persona' on YouTube and act completely different to how they would act if you actually knew them and you just get the feeling that Grace is being REAL, it's refreshing!

Let me know in the comments what you've been loving this month!

What I've been watching

This Summer has been pretty busy for me so I feel like it's been even more important to find those few hours for down-time/relaxation. Like many other people, relaxation for me means whacking on a face mask and binge-watching a new TV series, so I thought that I would share the things that I've been loving to watch throughout the Summer!

1) Nashville
This is my absolute favourite thing to watch right now. I'm literally obsessed. I know, I'm so late because they're already planning a season 5 release buuuuut better late than never right?! It's the perfect mix of music and drama and I just love it! I was put off of watching it for, literally, years because I wasn't a big fan of country music but it truly has converted me! (Now all I want to do is travel around the South of America in a pair of cowboy boots and an old Mustang with the roof down, and find myself a hunky man who plays the guitar and has an accent like Clint Eastwood in the old cowboy films).

2) Stranger Things
I wrote a bit about this in my August faves post but I'm still not really over how good it was (I'm debating watching it again but I think it may be too soon)!

3) American Horror Story
This is less something that I've enjoyed watching and more something that I'm excited to watch. I'm a big AHS fan and have seen all the past seasons so needless to say I'm buzzing for season 6! The first episode aired in the UK literally 2 nights ago and it was so good! I won't give away any important spoilers (not that I could anyway because fuck knows what's going on so far) but it's based around the lost Roanoke colony and I just thing it has so much potential.

4) RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars 2
I feel like I have an affinity to drag queens. Their sense of humour, their sass - I just love it. So obviously as a longtime fan of drag race, I was absolutely itching for All Stars 2 and it most definitely hasn't disappointed!

5) Are You The One?
Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a sucker for reality TV. I could sit and watch it all day. In fact, while I was supposed to be writing my dissertation this year, I decided that it would be a good idea to sign up to HayU (a streaming service that lets you watch pretty much ALL the reality TV you'd ever want) and I did sit and watch it all day. Are You The One is pretty much a mix of The Bachelor(ette) and Big Brother. Basically 10 men and 10 women have to find their perfect match. It's just full of drama and saucy activities and it sucked me in from the first ep.

I'm not sure many people will read this and I'm not even sure people will really care, but this blog has been a major part of my life for the past 2 years and I can't go without saying goodbye. I've decided to hand the blog over to Kayleigh so she can make it her own. Since graduating I have gained full time employment and I feel that that it's time to focus on other aspects of my life. I have loved working with Kayleigh on this blog and I really am sad to be saying goodbye. I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has taken the time out to read my posts, you've been amazing - it's been amazing.

It's all yours Kayleigh, you've got this kid.

August Favourites

How weird is it that it is now Autumn?! Not going to lie though, I'm so excited about it. Roll on oversized jumpers and Halloween-y films like Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown. At least now I won't sweat my make-up off as soon as I leave the house, am I right?
Anyways, here is a list of the things that we've been loving this August to celebrate the end of Summer!

KAYLEIGH

Nars Highlighting Blush in Albatross
I first noticed this on one of my friends on a night out - her highlight was on POINT so obviously I was all "TELL ME YOUR SECRETS WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?!" Luckily it was my birthday in August so it went straight on my list and I've been wearing it ever since. I find that powder highlights look so much better on my skin than liquid ones because my skin can get quit oily. I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a good powder highlight!

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation
This foundation is perfect. I wear it pretty much daily. It's quite thick so the coverage is really good (perfect for me right now as my skin is a complete nightmare) and it smells amazing! I am quite pale so I use the colour Beige and it is spot on for my skin. It looks so natural but also gets rid of flaws? Idk how that works but it does and it's amazing.

My New Tattoo!
So technically I got it in July but I have been loving it this month too! Me and my sister decided to get a matching tattoo to celebrate her turning 18 and me turning 21 (and also because we're BFFs and it's a cute idea). After much deliberation we decided to get a pinky promise because it's like a cute metaphor for how we promise we'll always be there for each other AAF NMW.

Stranger Things
If you haven't heard of this, umm, where have you been? But seriously, it's a fairly new show on Netflix which tells the tale of a boy from a small town who goes missing one night. It follows his friends and family members as they try to find out what happened to him. That is probably the worst description of it ever but I promise you, it's really good! It is quite creepy though so if you scare easily (like me) I recommend watching it during the day. I watched the first 6 episodes in one day but had to stop when it got dark cos got scared.

Raleigh Ritchie
I have been listening to Raleigh Ritchie literally non-stop this month, I'm UB-SESSED. I also had the absolute pleasure of seeing him live at Reading festival and he definitely did not disappoint. He has high energy, relatable lyrics and catchy tunes - what's not to love?! (Plus he's also Grey Worm from GOT so that's cool).

Mugs
Ok, this might seem really strange but this month I have acquired a lot of new mugs. Anyone that knows me knows that I love a good slogan mug, they just cheer me up of a morning! So pretty much all of my close friends and family members got me a mug for my birthday and I've just been loving using them every day.

Paris
Ever since I was a child I have been begging my parents to take me to Disneyland and they never did. So when I turned 21 I thought ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and booked up to go. Needless to say it was the most magical experience of my life and I literally cried with joy (more than once tbh). But while I was there I absolutely fell in love with Paris on the whole. Everything about it is so... chic. The architecture is beautiful, the people are beautiful, the food is beautiful. I just want to move there and live in a cute apartment above a hip cafe where people drink wine and smoke cigarettes outside, ja feel?

ABBY
Beauty
Ardell Lashes - Wispies
I first saw these lashes on Nicole Guerriero's YouTube channel and ever since then I have been obsessed! These lashes are so easy to apply, I'm talking seconds. They can be worn for a more natural look in the day or can be volumised with mascara for a more dramatic and bold look at night. I really don't have anything bad to say about this product, they're my holy grail lashes.

Lancome Visionnaire 1 Minute Blur
It has been a long and emotional journal between myself and my pores and now it's finally coming to an end - thank god. I have been struggling with large pore all through Winter and into the Spring months, making it extremely hard to wear foundation and concealer without people thinking my face was the moon - no joke, these pores got my face looking cratered. I apply this product after moisturiser and before foundation, and let me tell you, it quite literally glides onto the skin like silk. The product itself comes out in a gel texture and is very cool and soft to the touch. It's not a heavy product and doesn't make buffing foundation in difficult or strained - having said that, personally I feel this product works better when foundation is blended with a beauty blender. This product has worked wonders for me and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is struggling with large or apparent pores.

Entertainment
Scandal
This TV series is literally giving me life right now. Yes, it may have taken over my life at a time where university work was critical and my future was hanging in the balance, but when a good series comes along, there's just no denying it! (I'm such a bad kid!). Kerry Washington (my ultimate woman crush right now) plays a strong lead role, running her own crisis management firm with a dedicated and interesting team. Although this drama is based around the White House and American politics, it's no where near as boring as you may think. The romance in this drama is intense, shocking, emotional and all consuming. If you love crime, drama, politics and tales of epic romance, this is the show for you.

Let us know what you've been loving this month!

How to become organised!

How to become organised!
Sunday, 10 July 2016
Read post

Have you ever felt like you had too much to do but not enough time to do it in? Or like things were getting a bit too much and you're not quite sure how to deal with it? Being organised is one of the most underrated and easy ways to get back control of things. So here are 5 ways that you can get more organised this Summer and gain back control of your shit!

1) Keep things tidy
It's now officially Summer (although if you're from the UK it definitely doesn't feel like it - what is up with this weather?!) and what better way to kick off a new season than with a good old-fashioned clear out! Rid yourself of all the stuff that you never use, clean out that drawer that you've been mindlessly throwing old paperwork into (don't try and kid yourself, we all have one) and put on some fresh bed sheets. Getting rid of old clutter is therapeutic and leaves more room for new things. Plus tidy rooms just make you feel calmer and we could all do with a bit of calm in our lives.

2) Make a to-do list every night/morning
Making a list of things that you want to achieve every day (things that are possible of course) reinforces your goals for the day and separates things out in a way that you can handle. It's important not to try and do too much in one day because if you don't get everything done you'll end up feeling disappointed. Making a small list of 5 achievable things to get done every day will ensure that you don't over do it! Plus, lists are so cute and it's an excuse to buy a new, adorable notepad (I got the one in the picture above for this exact reason from TKMAXX, it says hustle at the top - how friggin cute!)

3) Get a good night sleep and wake-up earlier
This is pretty obvious - if you go to bed earlier and wake up earlier, you can utilise more of the day. I've always struggled with getting up early because my sleeping pattern has been a complete disaster since beginning uni three years ago and I just love my bed too much, but recently I've been trying to forge some kind of sleeping pattern that can allow me to make the most of my days. I started going to bed no later than 12 and just waking up when my body naturally wakes which is usually around 8:30am. If you're someone that struggles getting to sleep at night (like me) I'd really recommend drinking chamomile tea about an hour before you plan on actually going to sleep - it really calms me down! Alternatively, if you suffer from insomnia there are companies that offer help, for example the company Kind Minds offer an online webinar course which aims to help you get a better nights sleep and you don't even have to leave the house (for more info check out their website: www.kindminds.org or their Twitter: www.twitter.com/kindminds1).

4) Don't procrastinate
Another obvious one, but something that we are all guilty of! If you put things off you just end up with more to do later. Better to just get it done and out the way now.

5) Keep a diary or write things down on a calendar
I am literally the worst person for double booking. I end up forgetting that I have plans, make more plans and end up having to let someone down. Keeping a diary or writing things down on a calendar is a sure fire way of preventing this from happening - especially as all phones have calendars and you can set reminders (I don't know why I didn't think of this early tbh, sigh).

So there we are, our 5 tips to keeping yourself organised this Summer! Feel free to share any more tips in the comments as we love finding more ways to keep our shit together #AdultLife #Kinda #NotQuiteReadyForItYetButWe'reGettingThere!

P.s. This wasn't an ad, I just genuinely think that Kind Minds do great work!

So it's Summer and that means that most people attempt to make a genuine, concerted effort to change habits that they're not happy with. We are definitely no different. In a bid to become more organised, healthy and fit we began searching the web for meal planners- y'know because we want to lose a bit of weight this year. But while we were searching, we came across this one by The Happiness Planner. Cute, right?

We've seen so much stuff online about The Happiness Planner but unfortunately, due to us being poor students, we can't quite stomach paying the £38.60 price tag right now (that's a weeks shopping!). Don't be alarmed though, the website is full of these amazing, free print outs including weekly plans, bucketlists, exercise schedules and even a motivational poster!
We've downloaded every single one and plan to use them to keep track of our diet/exercise plans. They are so handy if you're busy through the week as you can fill them out on a Sunday and the following week is planned and ready to go. They just make us feel so much more organised than usual and they let us keep track of what work we have to do, what food we have to eat and what exercise we should do.

Before we get into it, just know that writing this post is paining me because it's reminding me how absolutely broke I am and how I can't afford to finish my room (sob sob). But last year I moved house and my room has never really been how I wanted it. It was kind of stuck in between with some old furniture from my old house and new furniture bought for the new one... let's just say it was looking very 'meh'. So with me finishing uni and moving home for good, I decided that it was time to sort my shit out and get my room looking presentable! Unfortunately, I have since run out of monetary funds (typical) but on the upside, it's has given me more time to look for bedroom inspo on Pinterest and browse homeware websites to help me decide exactly how I want my room to look in the end.
My room is quite small and all my furniture is white so I want it to look as bright and spacious as humanly possible for a room not much bigger than a wardrobe (it's not quite that small, but you know what I mean). I'm thinking mostly clean and white with some aspects of green and metallic.
Anyways, here is the list of things that I'm planning on buying... EVENTUALLY.

Plants, plants and more plantsIf you're not aware that inside plants are the new 'in thing' then, umm where have you been? I'm jumping on the band wagon and lusting after some beautiful greenery from Ikea. I'm talking cacti, succulents, bonsai trees, you name it if it's green I want it.

Picture/feature wall
These just look really, really cool. That's all there is to it to be honest! Picture walls are a perfect way to display memories, motivational quotes and pretty pictures that are guaranteed to cheer you up when you're feeling down. It's also the perfect way to give your room a little bit of your personality!

Gold Mirror
It took me a long time to decide what mirror I wanted. I've never felt more adult in my life than when I was looking at a selection of mirrors trying to decide which one I wanted more! But since I decided I wanted metallic aspects in my room, I thought a gold mirror would look perfect above my dressing table.

Let me know in the comments what you're lusting after!

It's finally starting to feel like Summer (halle-frickin-lujah)! So to celebrate, we thought we'd do something that we haven't done at all so far this year, a favourites post!

Feel free to let us know in the comments what you've been loving this month!

Kayleigh
Mitchum Stick deodorant: I’ve heard people talk about stick deodorants for ages but never really thought much of it until recently. When I use heavily perfumed deodorant sprays I find that they irritate the skin under my arms (it probably doesn’t help that I dry-shave a lot either) so I thought that I would see if using a stick would be a bit more soothing. I’ve been using the Mitchum Deodorant Powder Fresh Stick for the past month and it has fully converted me. I am never going back to sprays. It lasts all day, doesn’t sting my skin and a little bit goes a long way! I have literally been telling anyone who will listen about how much I love it!

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish: I’ve mentioned this before in a previous favourites post (as has pretty much every single beauty blogger ever) but I had genuinely forgotten how much I love it! I got a bit lazy with removing my make up over the past month (either I was too drunk or too tired to even bother) but this month, after numerous unnecessary break outs, I decided to start looking after my skin again. This is just my all-time favourite cleanser. It’s not harsh on my skin, and it makes me feel really clean after using it. I’ve had the same bottle for quite a while so it’s definitely worth investing in.

NARS Sheer glow foundation: This had been on my wishlist for ages and I had really high expectations about it. I finally got some for Christmas (cheers mum) and it definitely did not let me down. It doesn’t feel too heavy on my skin and I feel like it sits better than any other foundation I’ve tried before – not to mention the colour match is the closest I’ve ever been able to get to my skin! It really does make my skin look fresh and glowy!

Estee Lauder lipstick in Kendall’s shade: This is a really beautiful shade. It’s like an orangey-red and isn’t really something I would usually go for as I prefer deep reds, but it is gorgeous. I wore it out one night and got so many compliments on it. I feel like it’s probably a shade that would suit most, if not all, skin colours and the consistency is really nice too! It’s just ideal tbh.

Velvetines - Lime Crime: I had wanted to try these liquid lipsticks for a long long time, but the thought of having to pay ridiculous amounts for shipping has always put me off. However, over Christmas Lime Crime had free worldwide shipping on all products (it's like they knew my pain!) and so of course I couldn't resist!! I bought 4 shades: Cashmere (greige), Bleached (peachy nude), Shroom (90's brown) and Salem (dark brown). Lime Crime have such a wide range of colours in their Velvetines collection, I'm talking black, mustard, olive... but I wanted to keep it safe, at least until I knew how to work with the product and what it was like. The verdict? LOVE LOVE LOVE! Yes they are a bit drying, but what liquid lip isn't? The colour pay off of these lipsticks are amazing and the packing is beautiful! At £14 a pop I think these lipsticks are incredible, the shipping however - not so much.

Jo Malone - English Pear & Fresia Cologne: This perfume does things for me, great things. This perfume - excuse the obvious - has notes of pear, white freeisa, rose, amber, patchouli and wood. It's like nothing I've ever smelt before. Whenever I wear this fragrance it just makes me feel pretty and girly, and I think that's rare in a perfume. To me this is a fragrance that I will never stop buying, yes there are other perfumes that I like but for me, this is it. This is my fragrance, and I don't ever see that changing. At over £40 for 30ml it's not a perfume I douse myself in, but I won't be saving it for best - as my mum always says, if you're in love with something why save it?

Empire:We’ve only just started watching this so we’re a little bit behind but we’re already hooked! It’s kind of different to anything that we usually watch which is always nice. It’s basically a hip-hop version of Shakespeare’s King Lear – sounds weird but its soo good! Also Taraji P. Henson is such a badass.

MAJOR LIFE ADVICE!

MAJOR LIFE ADVICE!
Sunday, 12 June 2016
Read post

We don't often post things like this because we're definitely not the right people to be giving out life advice BUT this is definitely something that we know a bit about. A lot of you (probably) are either teenagers/young adults and it's coming to a time when you have to decide what you want to do as a career. It's possibly one of the most stressful times of your life, or at least it was for me, so I thought I'd tell you a bit about my experience...

So rewind to 3 years ago and I was in my final year at school (sixth form) and I absolutely hated it. I hated going in to school. I didn't really find any lessons interesting and I wasn't overly passionate about anything, at least not enough to say "this is what I want to do for the rest of my life". It seemed like everyone around me had their shit together and I was only interested in getting drunk and taking daytime naps (sad but true), but I ended up applying to go to University anyway. The truth is, I didn't apply because I actually wanted to work towards a career. The main reason I applied was because I thought that it would buy me some more time, that hopefully by the time the 3 years was up I would have some kind of EUREKA moment and suddenly know what I wanted to do with my life. I was so worried about being left behind by all the people that already had solid career plans that I just applied to a random course in a panic and ended up going to university.
What I realised when I got there though, is that hardly anyone knows what they want to do for the rest of their lives! And why should we! We're supposed to already have a plan for the rest of our lives when we're 17 years old?! But realistically, who actually does?! Every single person I've spoken to at university has no idea what they want to get out of it at the end, which was somewhat comforting to me because at least I wasn't the only one. But my advice to anyone that asks or is interested (and I have told people this countless times in real life) is to not go to university until you completely know what you want to do. I know it's a stressful situation to be put in at the end of school, to try and think about what you want to do, but just because you don't go to university straight away (or at all) doesn't make you a lesser person. Everyone has at least one thing that they are good at, it's just that some people find their 'thing' before others. If I hadn't panicked and had spent more time thinking about the things I enjoy doing and the things that I'm good at, I definitely wouldn't have applied straight away. I always hear people talking about teenage/young adult suicide rates and I genuinely think that the pressure that we're under regarding our future career is in some way related (among other things of course) because it's so hard when you have absolutely no idea what you want to do or what way your life is going.
So now, my 3 years are up and I'm due to graduate in July. Luckily, I have realised what I wanted to do with my life but unfortunately my degree has absolutely nothing to do with it and it took me until about 3 months ago to decide. Don't get me wrong, my time at uni has been such an amazing experience, the people I've met and the memories I've made are irreplaceable but I just hope that this post makes someone feel a bit better if they're having the same dilemmas. I think it's rare to find someone that knows what they want for the rest of their life when they're seventeen years old. So I guess what I'm saying is DON'T PANIC! Take some time out and it will come to you, just don't rush in to anything.
If only one person reads this and it makes them realise that the things they're going through are felt by more people than they think, it's been worthwhile!

Feel free to let us know in the comments what your plans are/your experiences with university or work.

2 Weeks In Paradise: República Dominicana

2 Weeks In Paradise: República Dominicana

Read post

I am very fortunate to say that I spent the past 2 weeks in The Dominican Republic with my boyfriend, and let me tell you... it was absolutely stunning. The weather was beautiful, the food was delicious and the people were so welcoming and friendly. Despite my initial belief that this Caribbean island was going to blasting Bob Marley at every available opportunity and that the people would be rocking massive dreads (Rasta man!) - don't worry, I realise how stereotypical I sound - I was completely wrong. And so it was much to my surprise when I found out that it's Spanish based country. In the same way, whilst on a day trip to Saona Island, we learnt that 65% of the Dominican Republic is a nature reserve, which explained the untouched beauty of the country itself. I really could talk about it all day, but I'll shut up now and let a few pictures do the talking.

It was weird, I found myself lying by the pool, swimming in the crystal clear ocean or just sat on the balcony and I would just find myself speechless, I was in disbelief that a place so beautiful could exist. Thinking back now, I almost question myself - was the sea that blue? Was the food really that fresh? But it was, it was paradise on Earth. I admit, I'm finding myself in the midst of holiday blues, and they always hit me hard. The other day at work I was walking down the corridor and suddenly my eyes starting watering and an intense feeling of sadness came over me. It's almost like, you spend 2 weeks in a perfect bubble and then you're thrown back into reality. I had the most amazing holiday and I'm so grateful that I was able to experience what I did. It was a beautiful adventure and I hope one day I'll be able to return.

Spotlight: Neal's Yard Organic Remedies

Spotlight: Neal's Yard Organic Remedies

So a few months ago my mum told me about this company 'Neal's Yard' and I had never heard of them before. I had a look through a catalogue of theirs that she had and noticed that some of the prices were a bit too high at £65 and the likes (a little bit expensive when you're a poor student like me). Straight away I was put off because I swear by companies like The Body Shop and Liz Earle so I thought, why should I switch up my skincare when I'm already happy with it? Long story short, I  was having an absolute mare with my skin and decided to give them a go and purchase the Purifying Facial Polish for oily & combination skin. Instantly I regretted not checking them out earlier. My skin can get really oily especially around my nose and forehead earlier and it was beginning to drive me insane, but this stuff genuinely does help! I found that my skin wasn't getting oily until much later in the day and it just felt so much cleaner and fresh. Despite my initial hesitations I would definitely recommend this! I literally use it every morning in the same way that you would use a regular face wash and I can really see the benefits. It works basically as an exfoliating face wash to balance oil and decongests excess dirt. This product is actually one of their less expensive at only £16 but even if that seems a bit too much, I look at it as an investment!

As well as this, my mum has been using the Neal's Yard Frankincense collection, specifically the Frankincense Intense Concentrate, the Rejuvenating Frankincense Toner and the Rejuvenating Frankincense Refining Cleanser. I can't speak for myself as I haven't used any of these personally but when I told her was I thinking about doing a post about the facial polish she begged me to include a bit about these because she absolutely swears by them. All of the Frankincense collection is age defying and helps to make skin appear more plump and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Now my mum is a little bit of an anti-aging cream connoisseur as she is OBSESSED with creams that supposedly rid your face of wrinkles, and she says that this has made her skin feel and look more hydrated than any of the drugstore products she has used in the past. At 51 years of age her skin literally looks glowing (not being biased I swear) and she has had so many compliments from friends.

Overall from what I've seen, I would definitely recommend the brand! Their products just seem so luxurious on your skin and it's well worth the money when you see a visible difference in your skin.

We're back, OFFICIALLY!

We're back, OFFICIALLY!

I feel like every time we post a blog post recently we’re always apologising for not posting in a while. But this time we really are sorry and we really are back. Life has been pretty crazy recently between finishing our dissertations and sitting our final exams but now it’s actually all over. Wow that feels weird to say. It’s over. Sixteen years of education and it’s done. It’s only a matter of time until we get our first graduate jobs and enter the real adult world where we have to pay taxes and drink coffee to survive, how exciting! But until then we have a considerable amount more time on our hands so we will be back to posting at least once a week. This week, we thought it might be fitting (seeing as how we’re going through an important time in our lives where things are changing and we’re finally transitioning in to proper adulthood) to share with you a list of things that we want to achieve this summer! After all, everybody loves a good list!

1) Graduate
So although university is finished and we have completed all of our assignments, we still don’t know if we have graduated yet (fingers crossed). Obviously, we can’t move on unless we have actually passed our assignments so this is a pretty important goal.

2) Go on a much deserved holiday
This is something that we've been waiting for, for a long time. After the utter stress of the past year we need a well deserved break away from normal life. We're thinking sun tanning, drinking cocktails and staying off our phones!

3) Diet
This constantly appears on pretty much everyone's list of goals. Whether it be new year's resolutions or just a list of things people want to achieve, dieting is almost always there. But, without sounding too cliche (too late) this summer we do want to become more healthy. Eat more fruit, drink more water and just generally look after ourselves.

4) Get a graduate job in our chosen area
This is probably the biggest goal of the Summer (coupled with actually graduating). It would be such an achievement to get a job in what we actually want to do. It would certainly mean that we got something out of uni other than countless drunken memories. Here's hoping!

5) Be spontaneous
This is the last Summer we'll have for the rest of our lives where we have no real commitments. It's the last time that we can just say F**K IT and go on an adventure (as long as it's not too expensive, obvs). So that's what we want to do. We're both going to make this the best summer ever!

Feel free to let us know in the comments what your plans for Summer are!
