May Favourties

Wednesday 15 June 2016

It's finally starting to feel like Summer (halle-frickin-lujah)! So to celebrate, we thought we'd do something that we haven't done at all so far this year, a favourites post!

Feel free to let us know in the comments what you've been loving this month!

Kayleigh
Mitchum Stick deodorant: I’ve heard people talk about stick deodorants for ages but never really thought much of it until recently. When I use heavily perfumed deodorant sprays I find that they irritate the skin under my arms (it probably doesn’t help that I dry-shave a lot either) so I thought that I would see if using a stick would be a bit more soothing. I’ve been using the Mitchum Deodorant Powder Fresh Stick for the past month and it has fully converted me. I am never going back to sprays. It lasts all day, doesn’t sting my skin and a little bit goes a long way! I have literally been telling anyone who will listen about how much I love it!

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish: I’ve mentioned this before in a previous favourites post (as has pretty much every single beauty blogger ever) but I had genuinely forgotten how much I love it! I got a bit lazy with removing my make up over the past month (either I was too drunk or too tired to even bother) but this month, after numerous unnecessary break outs, I decided to start looking after my skin again. This is just my all-time favourite cleanser. It’s not harsh on my skin, and it makes me feel really clean after using it. I’ve had the same bottle for quite a while so it’s definitely worth investing in.

NARS Sheer glow foundation: This had been on my wishlist for ages and I had really high expectations about it. I finally got some for Christmas (cheers mum) and it definitely did not let me down. It doesn’t feel too heavy on my skin and I feel like it sits better than any other foundation I’ve tried before – not to mention the colour match is the closest I’ve ever been able to get to my skin! It really does make my skin look fresh and glowy!

Estee Lauder lipstick in Kendall’s shade: This is a really beautiful shade. It’s like an orangey-red and isn’t really something I would usually go for as I prefer deep reds, but it is gorgeous. I wore it out one night and got so many compliments on it. I feel like it’s probably a shade that would suit most, if not all, skin colours and the consistency is really nice too! It’s just ideal tbh.

Velvetines - Lime Crime: I had wanted to try these liquid lipsticks for a long long time, but the thought of having to pay ridiculous amounts for shipping has always put me off. However, over Christmas Lime Crime had free worldwide shipping on all products (it's like they knew my pain!) and so of course I couldn't resist!! I bought 4 shades: Cashmere (greige), Bleached (peachy nude), Shroom (90's brown) and Salem (dark brown). Lime Crime have such a wide range of colours in their Velvetines collection, I'm talking black, mustard, olive... but I wanted to keep it safe, at least until I knew how to work with the product and what it was like. The verdict? LOVE LOVE LOVE! Yes they are a bit drying, but what liquid lip isn't? The colour pay off of these lipsticks are amazing and the packing is beautiful! At £14 a pop I think these lipsticks are incredible, the shipping however - not so much.

Jo Malone - English Pear & Fresia Cologne: This perfume does things for me, great things. This perfume - excuse the obvious - has notes of pear, white freeisa, rose, amber, patchouli and wood. It's like nothing I've ever smelt before. Whenever I wear this fragrance it just makes me feel pretty and girly, and I think that's rare in a perfume. To me this is a fragrance that I will never stop buying, yes there are other perfumes that I like but for me, this is it. This is my fragrance, and I don't ever see that changing. At over £40 for 30ml it's not a perfume I douse myself in, but I won't be saving it for best - as my mum always says, if you're in love with something why save it?

Empire:We’ve only just started watching this so we’re a little bit behind but we’re already hooked! It’s kind of different to anything that we usually watch which is always nice. It’s basically a hip-hop version of Shakespeare’s King Lear – sounds weird but its soo good! Also Taraji P. Henson is such a badass.
