Mid March Faves

Sunday 19 March 2017

It's been a while since I've done a favourites post and tbh, I'm not sure why because they're one of my favourite posts to write and I also love reading other people's. So I thought that even though it's not the end of the month, I would share with you some new things that I've been loving over the past month or so.

Television
One of the main things that I've been enjoying doing recently is watching new TV shows that I normally wouldn't think to watch. I'm so picky when it comes to TV and film because I'm the type of person that knows what she likes and usually just sticks to that but I've been trying to expand my horizons, so to speak...

Riverdale
Admittedly, this is the type of show that I love. PLL style, teen-based drama that isn't overly scary or OTT, the only downside is that episodes come out weekly and I'm so impatient I hate waiting for them!

American Crime Story: The People Vs OJ Simpson
This is what I mean by expanding my horizons. Don't get me wrong, I love a TV show based around crime AND I love American Horror Story so it's not completely out of the blue for me to be interested in a show like this. With that said, I do seem to always go back to my sit-com favourites that are easy watching and don't require much concentration, but one day I was really in the mood to put down my phone and become engrossed in a genuinely interesting show - and this fit the bill perfectly.

Love
The much anticipated new season of Love came to Netflix on 10th March and I've already seen it all. I just love it so much (get it). It's funny, dramatic, relatable and quirky - all of my favourite ingredients for a decent TV show.

Music

Fatherson
I'm pretty sure they have featured in a favourites post of mine before and they feature in pretty much every playlist I've ever made, but they have been one of my favourite bands since I discovered them in 2014. The reason that I'm mentioning them now is because I literally went to see them last night in Leicester and they were just perfect - as always. I'd definitely recommend checking them out if you're in to bands like Twin Atlantic or Prides.

Taking Back Sunday
For some reason I've been listening to TBS constantly this month. They're a band that I associate with my young teenage years so maybe I've been feeling nostalgic ha ha.

The 1975
Another all-time favourite but my sister & I just got lyrics from our favourite The 1975 song tattooed so I kinda had to include them!

Books

Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari & Eric Klinenberg
I love Aziz. Like I actually love him. I love him in everything he's ever been in, ever wrote, ever done. This book basically talks about romance in the modern day compared to in the past (duh, the title says it all). It talks about the research that they carried out which is actually really interesting from a Psychological/Sociological point of view but Aziz's humour kind of breaks up all the stats and reporting to make it light-hearted and fun.

Beauty

Maybelline Master Ink Liquid Eyeliner
A few weeks ago my beloved Soap & Glory Supercat eyeliner ran out so I was in the look-out for a new liquid eyeliner that was very cheap because I've got limited funds rn. This was buy one get one free in Superdrug and I needed a new mascara too (I use the Maybelline push up drama one, it is literally my baby and I love it so much) so I thought that I would give it a go! It was well worth the small price tag (I think it's £4.99 when you buy it on it's own but I got it for free because I got the mascara, obvs), the brush is so small that you can get a really precise line right on the waterline and it makes it so easy to do cat eye flicks - it's fab!

Fashion

Choose Love - Katherine Hamnett for Help Refugees
You may have seen this tshirts knocking about on social media, I know that they've been advertised a lot by celebrities. I love it! I love the sentiment, I love the meaning, I love the design and I love that it shows everyone that I support Refugees #TakeThatHaters

So this post is kinda longer than I thought it would be, but I guess that's what happens when I don't do a favourites post in a long time! I hope you enjoyed it, let me know what you've been loving so far this month :-)

xoxo Kayleigh

  1. I love doing favourites posts, they're also my faves to read. It's so interesting to see your favourites across such a wide variety of things I'd never thought of doing something like that.

I've just started Riverdale and i'm already obsessed, the hype is very well deserved. I'm just trying to pace myself because i know i'll run out of episodes before i know it!
