So it's a new school year and you want to make a fashion statement... The only problem is, how on earth can you be fashionable when you have uniform rules to stick to?!?!
Well don't panic because we are here to help! Every week we will be sharing with you some of our favourite pieces that you might just be allowed to wear to school!

One of our least favourite things about school uniform was the shirt. They were so boring and never fit right... So this is our slightly more fashionable solution to those horrible ill-fitting shirts!
Pussy Bows were originally popular in the 1970s but have been reappearing ever since! This year they were a popular theme at Paris Fashion Week by the likes of Gucci, so it seems like they're back with a vengeance this A/W15 season.

We absolutely love the classic, sophisticated look that they give to an outfit and because it's essentially a shirt with a massive bow they pretty much go with everything.
To really adhere to this seasons trends try a floaty style pussy bow shirt with a pare of flared trousers (as perfectly demonstrated by Olivia Palmero above) for a bohemian style look, or for a more preppy look try pairing one with a plain black skater skirt and a pair of black sheer tights (such as Kourtney Kardashian below).

Here are some examples of wear to find them on the high street:
From L-R: H&M, £14;  H&M, £19.99;  Topshop, £40

Thanks for reading! Feel free to drop us a comment telling us what you hate(d) about school uniform and what you would love to wear to school if you could.

Vaseline/Chap Stick
This is something that I forget quite often and end up regretting as soon as I’ve applied my lipstick. During the summer months it’s always nice to wear a bright lip (pinks, corals and light purples are gorrrgeous) but applying lipstick over dry lips can make them look like dried up prunes – not great. Applying some form of lip butter before lipstick can do wonders for keeping your lips hydrated and smooth and they’re handy to keep in your purse for some extra midday application.

Tinted Moisturiser
No-one likes having a face full of make up while its 90 degrees outside, not to mention when it actually starts to melt of your face you risk looking like the Wicked Witch of the West. This summer it might be a good idea to switch out foundation for a BB cream or tinted moisturiser to make your skin feel more fresh and light, as well as hydrated.

Primer/Setting spray
If you, like us, still like to wear foundation in the summer months because of the coverage, it’s important to take steps to make sure that it doesn’t actually sweat off (what a waste of product that would be!) Our advice would be to definitely apply a primer before your foundation, even if you usually don’t and you feel you don’t have to – it will just ensure that extra staying power that’s needed in the heat. If you want you can also apply a setting spray to make sure that your make up definitely isn’t going anywhere (we’ve talked about the Mac Studio Fix setting spray previously, see here).

Sun lotion
I think a lot of people assume that they don’t necessarily need sun lotion (us included) and don’t really bother to apply it but it’s kind of really important that you do. Just whack on a layer when you get out of the shower in the morning or right before you go out and then it’s done and you don’t have to think about it anymore. Or if you don’t feel like it’s necessary to do the entire body, why not invest in a foundation/tinted moisturiser that has SPF already in it. It’s better to take precautions than to risk your skin aging prematurely, right?!

Hair protection spray
Don’t forget to look after your hair this summer too! The sun is actually really drying to hair and it weakens it a lot. If this is something that concerns you, there are hair protection sprays that are available from drugstores or supermarkets like this one from No7 that contains vitamins and antioxidants that protect from sun, salt and chlorine damage (perfect for holidays or what?!)

Body/face exfoliater
We all know what it's like when you've sat out in the sun for a bit too long and suddenly you're burnt to a crisp!...but it's all good, because eventually you know that the red will soon turn to a beautiful golden brown, happy days! However, after one blissful day of feeling like a tanned goddess you start to notice that a little summin' summin' is going on, the dreaded peeling stage. But have no fear, that is what exfoliaters are for! Whilst you're in the shower or bath just whack on some trusty exfoliater (we recommend St Ives apricot body scrub) and watch your body transform once again into the golden goddess you once were. Don't worry, exfoliating doesn't get rid of your tan as some people think, in fact by getting rid of the dead skin you are allowing for an even better tan!
