Seeing as how we're students and we often have no money for food, let alone cosmetics, we thought we would share with you some of our favourite bargains that we've picked up from your everyday high-street shops. This is narrowed down to only our tippety top favourites, but if you are low on funds or just fancy picking up a bargain it is always worth having a good old browse in drugstores like Boots or Superdrug.

I love this foundation... How much you ask? Well, I'd deffo rate it over my Mac Matchmaster foundation. Now I know this may shock some of you, because everyone loves a Mac foundation, but the coverage this product gives is amazing and it blends out perfectly using either a brush or beauty blender. At the moment I have quite dry skin around my mouth and cheeks but am also experiencing some oil issues on the my nose and forehead, and I can honestly say that this foundation is good for those with dry, oily or combination skin!

Need much be said about this product? Youtubers everywhere use it & I'm sure most of you have all tired it! This product offers great coverage for those who suffer from blemished skin and want a flawless concealed look and also acts as a great highlighter for those who are after a more defined look. For the price, you can't really say no.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Foundation £4.99 (currently at Boots, RRP £7.99)
This is my absolute favourite drugstore foundation. If anyone ever asks me for a foundation recommendation it's always this and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. First of all, can we just talk about this price?! You can't really go wrong for a fiver. But regardless of the price, it is just a genuinely great foundation. It feels really smooth on the skin and gives a nice dewy effect once it's on. I suffer from dry skin on my cheeks and around my nose and find that a lot of foundations stick to the dry areas and make them look really flaky, but this one just smooths on really nicely and sets perfectly with a powder over the top. I'm not sure that it lasts exactly 25 hours (because I've never left it on that long) but it does definitely have a long stay!

I actually bought this last year after seeing it crop up in loads of Youtuber's 'yearly favourites' videos and I definitely wasn't disappointed. The two colours on the inside combine really nicely to make a nice shimmery tan colour, not too orange and not too dark. It's perfect for everyday wear just to give the face a bit more colour but not go over the top. The only thing I would say is, because it's not overly pigmented it might not show up as well on darker skin tones (it's fine for me because I'm ridiculously pale).

Tanya Burr Lashes 'Pretty Lady' £3.66 (currently at Superdrug, RRP £5.49)
I love any kind of Tanya Burr eyelash, be them natural for everyday wear or full and voluminous for a night out, I just cannot get enough! These lashes are really easy to apply... And can we just talk about the glue for a second? I literally wore these lashes for 12+ hours when we went up to London to see RuPaulBots and they were still hanging on tight by the time we got home.

I read about this in Lou Teasedale's book The Craft and I instantly wanted it (you don't ignore make up advice from Lou Teasedale, you just don't). Ever since I first bought it in August of last year it has been my absolute favourite mascara. I wear it every single day. It doesn't cause clumps or stickiness, it just gives them length and volume - exactly what you would want from a mascara. I love to use this for 'spider lashes' (where you layer mascara like 27 times to make your eyelashes really really thick) and it works really well. The consistency is really nice as well because it's not too runny so it doesn't cause smudging on the eye lids or underneath the lash line. IT'S JUST PERFECT OKAY!

This product is great for adding that little sparkle to your make up. A little bit goes a long way so it's well worth the price and it comes out really pretty and delicate. It's perfect for nights out or events where you want to do something different or just add a twinkle. It's so easy to apply with a small shadow brush either on it's own or on top of an eye shadow base!

This eye shadow is out of this world! The colour is hard to describe but I'll give it a go...It's an iridescent maroon with hints of purple, brown, red and blue. When the light hits this shadow it quite literally is an indescribable beauty... you just need to try it out for yourselves to know what I mean! I'm not sure this product is worth the full £9, but there really are no other shadows/brands that offer this kind of quality and pigment in a product and so if you're brave enough to spend almost a tenner on a little pot of magic, then I 100% suggest you do!

This is honestly my favourite eye shadow palette ever.. and I have tried many. This palette has 32 beautifully pigmented matte shades which range from browns, greys, blacks, pinks, purples, oranges and beige's. I love all Makeup Revolutions eye shadow palettes as they are so reasonably prices and the products are amazing quality, a lot of these shade dupe Urban Decays Naked Palettes and is less that half the price! This palette is also a great size for travelling and the diverse range of shades means it can be used for eyes, brows and contouring!

This product is definitely one of the best lip products that we have ever used, period. It comes out with a brilliant matte finish but is actually really nourishing on the lips rather than drying so it's much nicer to use than a lipstick (especially in the Autumn/Winter seasons). The available colours are beautiful and it has amazing staying power. It's definitely worth the money!

5 of our favourite apps!

5 of our favourite apps!
Friday, 22 May 2015
Read post

This is perhaps the only app we've ever paid for ever in our entire life, but gosh is it worth it! Since we started blogging, we've been trying to improve our photography skills and this has helped so much. It's basically an app that takes the tragic and turns them in to magic. It's so easy to use with sliders to turn up (or down) brightness, contrast and exposure etc. and loads of filters that you don't get anywhere else. At only 69p it's actually a bargain and we definitely recommend it if you're a blogger!

This is literally the best app that has ever been invented. If you're a someone that loves fashion or anything girly then this is for you!! This app is all about styling up clothes, I'm talking shoes, bags, accessories, hair, make up... the whole works! The app is based around entering fashion events in order to win designer clothes and getting your closet value up in order to unlock new hair and make up looks. This really is an addicting app so if you're busy with exams or work at the moment we don't recommend getting it right now, you'll want to be on it all day! Oh, and the best part? it's FREE.

I think we're a bit behind on the hype with this app, but it's just soo funny! We first saw this when some of the cast from Made in Chelsea starting posting some funny videos on Instagram & from then on in we have been hooked! This app allows you to lip sync (?) to songs, adverts, catch phrases, famous movie lines and so on. Of course, as soon as we saw how many things this app had to offer we looked up Ru Paul & low and behold we have been in heaven ever since! This is a great app for just having a giggle with your pals,  we deffo recommend looking this up if you haven't already :)

This is one of the best apps ever. Period. For those that don't know, this is basically a music streaming app that has pretty much every artist you would ever wish to listen to on it!

The app itself is free and it is possible to have a free account (where you can listen to any music you want on shuffle mode, with an internet connection) or if you don't mind paying £9.99 a month (50% discount for students, HOLLA) you can listen to whatever song you want without having to use the internet!
This is the app that we use DAILY to listen to tunes while we're blogging or revising. It is great for introducing new music because you can browse the playlists for different moods or discover newly released albums as well as share playlists with your friends.
We'd definitely recommend this to all the music lovers of the world!

This app is perfect for people who are trying to get healthy or like to keep an eye on what they're eating. We mentioned it before in our New year, New you post back in January and we're still loving it! Basically you fill in what you've eaten that day (it separates in to breakfast, lunch and dinner) or scan the barcode of what you've eaten if it came from a packet and it tells you the nutritional info (like calories, grams of fat and salt etc). It's great for keeping an eye on calorie intake if you're trying to lose a bit of weight and is good for motivation (because who wants to physically admit that they've eaten 4 share bags of minstrels?!). It's definitely our favourite health/fitness app!

We hope you enjoyed this little insight in to our phones... We'd love to hear what apps you are enjoying!

Welcome to another week's installment of The Festival Edit!
When you're drinking all day and jumping around like a lunatic all the while trying to battle the weather (an impossible task in the UK), it's hard to know if make up is even worth putting on. We've compiled a list of easy, festival make-up looks that won't take up too much time and won't look too disastrous in the pouring rain!

We loveee this whole face sticker thing sooo much! Topshop have some great ones this year, we're talking moons, stars.. they even have stickers for wellies which would be great for T in the park and Glastonbury! You don't want anything too heavy in the day time so we thought a light BB cream would be great to provide a bit of coverage for those that want it. To save on space instead of taking both a blush and a bronzer why not just take a bronzer to add a bit of colour to your face, it could also double over as eye shadow and eyebrow powder! A tinted lip balm is great for extra moisture and also adds a bit of something something to an average look. And of course make sure your mascara is waterproof, you never know when it's going to start chucking it down & that's almost guaranteed at any festival here in the UK.

This is another natural look that is ideal for festivals and Summer in general, perfectly demonstrated by the ever-flawless Emma Watson! The Tea tree BB cream from The Body Shop is ideal because it's light but also good for pores (why must your skin suffer in the name of fun!). We love how Emma's eyebrows are pretty much the main, stand out feature of this look so an eyebrow pencil with a spooly is ideal for festivals. A natural blush would also just finish off this look just to add a bit of colour. This one from Rimmel is ideal because it comes in a small package and doesn't break the bank!

Who better to take festival make up inspo from than a real Rock and Roll queen! Dark eyes are perfect for looking grungey at a festivals and this look harks back to a time when guitars still reigned supreme! This Kohl eyeliner from Sisley is perfect because it has a sponge at the other end which is ideal for smudging and blending, it would look marvellous paired with a quick coat retro scandal eyes mascara. The best bit is, if it happens to rain and the eyeliner happens to smudge, it will just add to the rock and roll feel!
Finally, lets not forget the signature Red lip... just be careful not to smudge it in amongst the heavy drinking and the aggressive chanting!

We all know that a festival is the only place someone could really pull off a coloured eyeliner and mascara without people giving them weird looks! We say go crazy, whack on as much colour as you can.. it'll look great on Instagram. Sticking to a light foundation is key and Benefits 'Hello Flawless' is great for this as it's very lightweight. A bronzed look is also essential in summer time and so make sure you've got a great bronzer with you, we love Benefits sunbeam as it gives a little shimmer which is stunning when the sun hits it!

Motivational Monday: Exam Grades

Motivational Monday: Exam Grades

Read post

It's that time of year again... University exams, AS & A level exam prep and coursework, GCSE's... the whole works! We're coming to the end of our exams this week and after receiving a few grades back last week, we wanted to post a little motivational piece about exam results because we know how disheartening it can be to receive a disappointing grade.

Sometimes it's important to just take a step back and take things into perspective, failing isn't the end of the world even if it may feel like it at the time. There are a few well known success stories of people who at some point in their lives have failed and were in the exact same position as us, or even worse. Who are these people?....

Albert Einstein: Wasn't able to speak until he was 4 years old & all his teachers said that he wouldn't amount to much.
Eminem: High school drop out whose personal struggle with drugs and poverty lead to a suicide attempt.
Walt Disney: Fired from a newspaper for 'lacking imagination'.
Oprah Winfrey: Demoted from her job as news anchor because she 'wasn't the right fit for television'.
Micheal Jordan: Cut from his high school basketball team.
The Beatles: Rejected from multiple record companies for not having the right sound and told that they had no future in show business.

We're not suggesting that failure will lead to greatness like some of the examples above (although lets hope!) but at the same it's important not to blame the world for any disappointing grades you receive because we know more than anyone that it's almost always due to lack or revision or an 'I don't care' attitude.

The point is, everyone in their life will experience some kind of disappointment or failure that will hold them back and leave them feeling defeated, but you've just got to get back up. If you're exam grade isn't what you were expecting you just have to try harder next time. If there's anything we've learnt since starting University it's that you can't change the outcome of results and grades, so why dwell on them?

If you're going to take anything away from this then please just remember...
You are more than a grade.

DOES IT REALLY WORK? Fullips Lip Plumping Enhancer

DOES IT REALLY WORK? Fullips Lip Plumping Enhancer
Friday, 15 May 2015
Read post

We have been on the quest for big lips for a long long time, and although this enhancer doesn't quite have the effect that a lip injection might, it definitely helps!

We both purchased the Fullips lip plumping enhancer in medium oval for £15.98 off Amazon. There are three different sizes:
Large round is best suited for those who have a larger mouth area of fuller lips in general.
Medium oval is best suited for those with thin lips or small mouth area.
Small oval is best suited for those who want to target specific areas of their lips (e.g. cupid bow).

When the Fullips enhancer arrived it came with full instructions on how to clean the product and how to use it. We were very anxious about any bruising that may occur and so followed the instructions to a T... however, after a few days we began to play around with the timings to see what suited our lips best.

Firstly, it can be quite difficult to get the suction right on this, it definitely takes a few attempts and a few different positions to get it right.
Secondly, the advised 20-30 seconds is not long enough. It usually takes us about 10 minutes to get the desired result, this is not a constant time, we take it off and change position multiple times.
This enhancer can be used both horizontally and vertically in order to achieve a more overall fullness on the lips. For a more prominent pout we recommend using it vertically but for an overall fullness on the whole lip area we recommend using it horizontally, or both! On a lot of the reviews we read before purchasing people were saying how it didn't work or how useless it was.. we think this may have been because they didn't persist for long enough. Be patient with it, it does work.
We also want to mention that it does leave a slight red mark around the mouth area, but this does go in a few minutes or can be covered with foundation if in a rush!
Also, don't panic if you find yourself having a little dripple into the enhancer, this is just a result of the suction.
Although this enhancer does the job, it only lasts around 1-2 hours. The instructions explain how the more it is used the longer it lasts so we'll just have to wait and see.

Below are some before and after pictures of our lips so you can see the effect it has had!

Is there anything else you guys would like to see featured as a 'Does it really work?'? We love trying new products out and reporting back to you guys!

It's nearly Summer guys which means it's nearing the best time of the year... Festival season!

In celebration of this wonderful time of year, we've decided to do a 'Festival Edit', over the next few weeks, including festival fashion, festival hair, festival make-up, festival playlists and a festival survival guide!

We're going to jump straight in with some fashion ideas! We've taken fashion inspiration from different celebs who love a festival & picked key pieces from their looks to showcase some high street buys we thought were similar... Enjoy! :)

With exams in a week and everyone back in the house we thought it would be a good idea to utilise our housemate Charlie whilst we still had the chance! We've collected a group of topics that could be considered to be quite controversial between guys & girls. With each topic we've given our views and opinions and asked Charlie what he thinks. Being psychology students we are very aware that Charlie's answers cannot be generalised to the whole male population, but we thought it would be interesting to see the difference!
(Just a mini disclaimer: we are not setting out to hurt anyone's feelings with our opinions, this is just a bit fun!)

K: I just love this big lips  craze!  I have to admit, I am one of those people that's spent money on lip scrubs, lip glosses and lip moisturisers all to try and get bigger lips because I feel like lips can change a person's entire face. I LOVE IT!
A: I literally want to cut their lips off and stick them to my own. There is nothing I want more than big lips at the moment... I could wear any lipstick I wanted and it would look fierce! I'm not trying to be mean to people with thin lips (I'm one of them!) but there's nothing I love more than meaty lips and would loveeeeee to be blessed with such...

C: Erugh, these are so gross. I really don't understand the need for massive lips... if you kiss someone like that it'll consume your face, it's all about the technique not the equipment.

K: I actually really like these! I think they're so cool looking and fun. I love the whole festival feel of them and they're only temporary so you can change them to fit your outfit which is cool. I actually want to invest in some of these for Summer!
A: I mean, I like these tats when I see them in Instagram pics on people who are at Coachella or some cool place with sun and cool scenery, but i'm not sure how i'd feel seeing someone walking through Northampton town in them. They're pretty, but I won't be wearing them any time soon.

C: I don't really understand these, you wouldn't have them permanently so what's the point in sticking them on for a few hours. If you're going to wear these man up and get the proper thing.

K: These nails are sickening and everyone knows if you're not wearing nails, you're not wearing drag!
A: I loveeee these nails! I'm not 100% on the really pointy and sharp kind, but I love how elegant and slender stiletto nails can make fingers/hands look.

C: One word: dangerous. How do girls do things with these?! Although to be fair I don't really notice nails, they don't make a girl any more or less attractive.

K: I'm not really a big fan of tribal tattoos. I just don't really get them? I guess I just prefer actual picture tattoos rather than just shapes.
A: Honestly? I really don't mind a (tasteful) tribal tattoo! I think it's just like a girl getting a heart or butterfly tattoo... it's just some shaped meshed together to make something interesting! I think these types of tattoos are often over stereotyped which is a shame because some tribal tats can be really cool!

C: No, just no. It's the person that gets them not the actual tattoo... do you know what I mean?

K:If we're talking morally then I guess it was the right thing to do, but if we're talking personally, I'm gutted. Jezz was my favourite out of the 3 on Top Gear. His banter and general personality is what made it worth watching in the first place!
A: Heartbroken. Jeremy wanted what he wanted, it was the other guys job to do it... why wasn't he fired?! I would be honored to be punched in the face by Jezza. I'll follow you JC, wherever you may go <3

C: I wasn't surprised when this happened and I think that they've done the right thing. I don't think it would have been right if stayed, he can't get away with it & if he had stayed it would just fuel his behaviour. I love the show but I'm honestly not that bothered by it.

K: This is something that I feel very strongly about. I just think that a lot of people are slightly blinded now a days and they assume that we are equal when in reality we're not quite there yet. I understand that a lot of people get frustrated when they hear so much about it but it's something that a lot of women are passionate about because of how frustrating it is to be seen as inferior especially in relation to things like rape and sexual harassment etc...
A: Hmmm, this is a very hard topic to talk about. Yes I want women and men to be equal in all way possible but at the same time I don't think women should feel pressured to feel the way others feel. Personally, I don't want to be all career and independent for the rest of my life, I could quite happily be a stay at home mum and wife... but sometimes when I say this I get judged. Yes women have fought for year for equal rights and I really appreciate that... but at the same time I think women are too judgmental of other women's views than they should be.

C: Go for it, just don't rub it in my face.

K: In the past year I feel like my life/personality has actually changed so much after discovering the drag community. It's so refreshing to see these men ignore all of what society expects and just be who they want. I think more people should take a leaf out of their book(s) and just accept people for who they are. Not to mention they're absolutely stunning!
A: I always feel so empowered when I watch these women on TV or at a show. Their 'I don't give a fuck' attitude is so inspiring and dare i say... attractive?! There's nothing that I hate more than when other people think those who do drag are weird or abnormal... it's an art form and I will forever appreciate it... I mean, these men can do things with make up that I would love to do!

C: I don't really understand what makes them want to do it.. I just can't relate to it.

K: I found it so heart-warming to see all the positivity surrounding this from Bruce's family, other celebrities and just every day people. I think this is a prime example of how much more accepting society has become and it's honestly something that makes me really happy. I wish Bruce all the best with his new life and I hope that things will be better for her now that she is open about who she is.
A: I was shocked, I won't lie. After watching KUWTK for the past few years there was never any hint that Bruce might have wanted to be a woman. I think it's sad that it's taken this long for him to be comfortable enough to come out and tell everyone but I'm so happy that his children and Kris are supporting him. Any one who speaks ill of Bruce and his changing appearance should feel ashamed, he truly is an inspiration to many.

C: Again, I don't understand but I am surprised that it took him this long to come to terms with himself. If he felt he needed to do it, I can't say otherwise.

We hope you enjoyed reading this post & would love to hear your opinions on some of these topics! :)

MET GALA 2015: Battle of the Dresses

MET GALA 2015: Battle of the Dresses
Wednesday, 6 May 2015
Read post
Kim & Beyonce

We really had high hopes for Kim, we wanted something classy, chic and elegant... but this dress was the complete opposite of what we wanted & didn't surprise us at all. Not only is it almost identical to Beyonce's 2012 Met Gala dress, but come on, we've seen her practically naked on the front cover on a newspaper & in all her Instagram photos. We already know she has a great body and that she loveeees to show it off, but we were craving something totally out of character and surprising from her! Don't get us wrong, this is an absolutely beautiful dress, and this colour choice was perfect for Kim... we just wanted more from her.

We love how the whole colour scheme of this dress is based around Bey's natural skin tone, it's almost like she's completely starkers with only glitter and gems covering her cheeky parts! We're also love love loving Bey's hair here, taking it all out of her face and off her shoulders/chest was such a good move, her fierce hair that we all know and love would have just detracted away from this stunning dress. We have to admit, Beyonce did showcase a similar dress in 2012, so although this dress made our jaws drop on seeing it, we still think she could have pushed the boat out a bit further..although definitely not as much as her sister did.

Winner: Beyonce

Sarah & Solange

Sorry but are we the only ones that see some kind of resemble to Mushu (the little dragon out of Mulan) here?! No, but in all seriousness this look is definitely something Carrie Bradshaw would whip out for a day round the shops! We think this is partly why this look didn't really shock us as much as it should have. We admire her attempt at stepping outside the box with the oriental style head piece, but we're firm believers in the fact that only Lady Gaga can attempt to pull off such extravagant pieces as it shocks no one! Can we all just take a minute to admire SJP's eyes here though, they are just out of this world!

We're not really sure what to say about this.. it's definitely interesting. If the dress didn't have the excess material spouting out the top & sides we think that this would have been a really show stopping, beautiful dress. However, even Solange can't salvage a dress that looks like a smashed mirror... or a jellyfish. It's pretty safe to say that Beyonce out shined her sister at this event.

Winner: SJP

Anne & Rosie

We're getting a slight Star Wars Princess Leia vibe here! We're actually quite enjoying this dress from Anne, it's so different to all the other dresses that were seen and it was totally unexpected!... I mean, who wears a hood to the Met Gala?! We love how Anne has kept her accessories very simple, with a gold clutch to compliment the dress and some simple studs in her ears, this look is very much all about the dress. However, the simplicity of this dress definitely made it drop into the background, it had a lot of tough competition which is a shame because we really feel that this look is something unusual and fresh.

We think we literally turned into lesbians when we saw this picture. Rosie is so beautiful and this dress is literally gorgeous. This dress is definitely one of the more sexier numbers seen on the red carpet with the high leg slit and the interesting bodice shape. Her sleek up-do accentuates her sharp cheekbones, plump lips (with a lip colour to die for) & those on point brows! We literally can't fault this look.

Winner:  Rosie

Vanessa & Kendall

There's a lot going on here. We're loving the shoes with this dress, but the earrings and net hat thing just seems like too much with the intricate detail on the dress. We're also questioning Vanessa's colour choice here as in some pictures she was blending in with the carpet! However, the shape of this dress is really flattering to her figure and the jewels turn an otherwise simple dress into something beautiful and interesting.

Is that some cheeky side boob we see Kendall?! You little minx you. We're loving this dress on Kendall so much, but I guess that's what you get from becoming a supermodel overnight - lots of fashion connections! The texture & colour of this dress is almost mermaid like and the side detail is sexy yet elegant at the same time. We're big fans of how simple Kendall has kept both her hair and make-up, she looks so youthful and radiant in this picture and the dress adds a sultry look to her usual simplistic style.

Winner: Kendall

We'd love to hear your opinion on these dresses, there has been a lot of controversy surrounding some of them!
