Shopping on a budget is always a pain in the arse. We've all been there. Everything seems to cost an arm and a leg these days! Luckily for you, however, we've found some gifts that are perfect AND are under £10 (thank us later)...

Everyone (regardless of gender) likes some kind of hot beverage, right? Whether it be tea, coffee or some obscure concoction like a vanilla chai tea mocha frappucino - mugs are  just ideal! We love the quirky, funny ones from Urban Outfitters like these, they're guaranteed to cheer a gal up on a rough Monday morning. Get them here

Another genius gift idea would be something beauty related. Obviously this is only a good idea
for the ladies that love make up, if you're intended giftee does not fit the description please skip ahead to the next gift idea, if she does then please continue reading... You can never really go wrong with an eyeshadow palette at Christmas. The ones from Make Up Revolution are amazing and so inexpensive! If you're not sure what she's in to just get a muted natural toned palette with browns and creams but if you're feeling brave try one a bit more adventurous with blues and greens. Get them here

This is a little bit different to your average gift idea which is why we think it's so good! We're suckers for homeware (and I actually own some of these, so I hope you like them) so we would absolutely love to receive these! Basically, etsy is the best place to get prints for your room and other quirky things of the same variety. These ones are from the shop oh gosh, Cindy which basically consists of these really cool watercolour illustrations of all sorts of pop culture things from Mary Berry to Beyonce! They're so inexpensive and look so cool (also it's something that the vast majority won't have or won't think to buy so bonus points!) Check them out here

Finally, two of our favourite things are strong, influential women and curling up with a good book. Combine the two together and you get Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso. What more is there to say, it sounds perfect!

Candles
It is now Winter, and Winter means staying indoors, nice and cosy watching Christmas films and keeping warm. Naturally, this also means lighting candles. Duh! There is nothing better than getting in to bed in the evening, putting on some fairy lights, lighting a candle and chilling out. They just set the mood, don’t they? We particularly love the ones from TK MAXX that are a bit different to your average, run-of-the-mill scents. We both have these amazing ones by the brand ‘Makers of Wax Goods’ that smell just like coffee! They’re A-MAZING! We definitely recommend having a look in TK MAXX (or TJ MAXX if you’re American) if you’re looking for some new, quirky candles because the scents are insane and they’re so inexpensive compared to other brands!

Online shopping

I’m the first to admit that I’m pretty darn lazy, but this year I think I’ve taken it to a whole new level… I didn’t physically go out and buy any of my Christmas gifts. I just sat in bed, on a Saturday morning, laptop in tow, and decided to use the power of technology to get my gifts delivered straight to my door (thank you ASOS). I’m sorry, okay! I’d just prefer to buy my gifts with a couple of clicks rather than spend 6 hours queueing and fighting old women for a pair of socks! (I’m not really sorry, I think it’s the best decision I’ve made all year).

Brunch

Okay, since I’ve come to uni I have definitely matured. I now eat brunch! BRUNCH! Every time I say it, I feel like a sophisticated woman in New York or Paris. It’s really not that classy to be honest with you, it’s pretty much only because most of the time I don’t wake up early enough for breakfast… Either way, it’s now my favourite meal. I’ve pretty much been having the same thing for the past 3 weeks, salmon and egg on toast with spinach and rocket – YUM!

Coffee

Another example of how mature I’ve become! I now drink coffee! I remember when I was younger and I tried coffee for the first time and thought ‘how the heck can people drink this stuff?!’ But now that my taste buds and I have matured, I pretty much can’t cope without it some days. I’m so proud of myself! I feel the way I did when I drank wine for the first time and actually enjoyed it (am I Carrie Bradshaw now or nah?).

Catfish & the bottlemen

I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Catfish last month and they blew me away. Their music would be on my favourites pretty much every single month but this past month I feel as though I’ve just been listening to them on repeat! Their music is the perfect mix of guitars, teen angst and sexual innuendos... What more do you want?! If you’ve never listened to them before I very much recommend them (You can check them out on our November playlist here), I guess the closest comparison is maybe like a younger version of The Strokes? They’re definitely worth a listen!

Broad city

This show is hilarious. It’s just hilarious. Hilarious. That’s all.

We'd love to hear what you guys have been loving this month, feel free to recommend some music or tv shows because we love finding new things to love!

It was so hard not to make a playlist purely consisting of Christmas songs and nothing but Christmas songs. It was hard, but we resisted (although there are quite a few tucked in there somewhere)!

Anyways, making playlists is one of our favourite things to do so we'd love you to let us know what songs you've been listening to this month! Or let us know what your favourite Christmas song is!

Abby:
L'Oreal Paris - Infallible 24H-MATTE
I'm not sure the name of this product is as accurate as it could be... Matte for 24 hours? I don't think any foundation, no matter the brand or the price tag, will quite allow for 24 hours of a flawless matte face (Oh the despair!). However, I love the consistency and finish of this foundation. It's a soft velvety texture that blends out well with both a brush or beauty blender and has a beautiful flawless finish. I would advise using a primer with this product and is it does have a tendency to sink into pores and go a bit patchy without - thank god for primers eh! Overall, this is definitely a foundation that I will keep using, at £7.99 this product is a must have - especially if, like me, you suffer from oily/combination skin!

MAC - Pro longwear Concealer
I've wanted this product for a while and after months and months of debating I decided to treat myself - don't I always!? I know this is quite an old product in regards to it being on the beauty scene for a while, but when my dark circles started to match my liquid liner I thought it was time to try the heavy duty stuff! I actually picked up this concealer at the airport and was in a rush to board so I didn't really have time to test out all the colours, and the staff were so rude I didn't even want to waste my time asking so I went with NW20 and it's a pretty good match, it's light enough for an under eye highlight which is primarily what I wanted this product for. I'd love to pick up a lighter shade for extra highlighting but for now, I'm happy with this one. The coverage of this product is excellent and it blends out well with both a brush and blender. Depending on the powder I use it does sometimes sit in my pores but it's probably not noticeable to an outside eye - we all know how critical we can be about ourselves when no one else really notices! But I'd love some suggestions for a new setting powder, I find most of mine sit on my skin and don't quite do the job I want (mattifying for more than a few hours!).

OGX - Argan Oil of Morocco, Extra Penetrating Oil.
I love this product. I have long, thick hair that gets very dry at the ends, especially if it hasn't been washed for a few days. After years and years of bleaching and dying my hair it is finally getting back to a much healthier condition and this oil is definitely helping. I pour a small amount (about the size of a 50 pence piece) of oil into my palm and rub it into the end of my hair when it's damp, even when it's damp you can feel the difference instantly, it's almost like I can feel it coating my dry ends with moisture. The texture is great - it's not sticky and ironic as this may sound, doesn't feel too oily. When my hair is dry this product ensures that my hair is soft and shiny, it really is a great product! I know there are millions of oils out there that all do the same thing, but after trying a few this is by far my favourite.

Kayleigh:
Make up sponges
I don’t really know why I’m so late to catch up with this. I kept hearing people talking about beauty blenders but never really payed any attention up until now. Using a sponge to blend in my foundation has literally changed my life!! It gives such a seamless finish and somehow makes my pores disappear, what more can you ask for really? Plus, they’re not very costly at all so its win-win.

Diesel Loverdose perfume
I actually haven’t used this perfume for over a year but I recently found a body lotion that I got in a gift set with the perfume and I was reminded of how much I love love love the scent. I’m really in to like weird smells when it comes to perfumes rather than your average vanilla or florals and this, to me, is perfect. It has an undertone of liquorice so it’s really different to anything I’ve smelt before and because the scent is quite strong it lasts for ages. I'm so bad at describing scents so I think I'd better stop before I put everyone off, but seriously if you're looking to switch it up, don't rule this one out.

We'd love to hear what you've been loving throughout November so feel free to leave a comment!

5 things to do when you're hungover

5 things to do when you're hungover
Sunday, 22 November 2015
Read post

Recently we found ourselves in the midst of a crippling hangover - we're talking heads pounding, stomachs churning and the thought of getting out of bed sickening. So, instead of doing important uni work that needed doing, cleaning the kitchen that looked like a bomb had hit it or looking at the drunken texts/calls we made that were sure to be an embarrassing drunken mistake, we decided to share with you some things that make our hangovers just a little bit more bearable.

Eat
Not someone who can eat when they're hungover? You're missing out! There's nothing we love more than stuffing our faces with absolute crap when we're hungover (and when we're not!), it just makes you feel a little better about the bad choices you made and the dignity you lost. We recommend something loaded with carbs, we like to imagine it soaking up the alcohol in our system - it makes us feel better about eating carbs on carbs on carbs. Oh, and don't forget the orange juice, that's a must.

Sleep
Let's be honest, napping at any time of the day, hung over or not, is the best.

Shower
A hot shower the morning after is like washing away last nights mistakes and regrets. It doesn't matter what rigorous beauty routine you endured the night before, wash out that hairspray, wash off that fake tan and make sure you scrub scrub scrub! There's just something about standing under that beautiful waterfall of hot water that helps make you feel a little more human and a little less shitty.

Be around people
Don't wallow in self pity, we know it well and it won't help. It'd be a rare occasion to find us alone when we're hungover, and not because we hate being apart or because we have hundreds of friends that want to hear about our amazing drunken attics, instead it's  because one of us likes to ring the other at a ridiculous hour of the morning because she wants attention and orange juice. Having said that, there's nothing better that being around people when you feel like shit, you can joke about the previous night, have a little cuddle, watch bad TV and just feel like crap together. Yes they might tell you about that time you were grinding on a 50 year old man who had 3 missing teeth and grabby hands, but at the end of the day that's what friends are for.

Pamper
A bit of TLC when you're feeling fragile is always the best and most appreciated. Your body is trying to fight the reminisce of alcohol and whatever fast food you ordered the night before and it just needs a bit of love. So, be it a face mask or a nose strip, pampering yourself is a sure way to make you feel a little better and help your body get back to it's normal self.

We'd love to hear from you, hangover tips are always appreciated! :)

My hair journey

My hair journey

Read post
Last month I made the life changing decision to bleach my dark brown hair blonde. My intention was to go a silvery/purple colour and foolishly I thought it would happen right away and that I could do it on a limited budget - boy was I wrong! It took around 6 bleaches, 3 toners and a shit load of silver shampoo to get the colour it is now, but it was so worth it!

The first step was making the decision. Myself and Abby watched countless YouTube videos of people bleaching their dark hair at home and we decided that it was possible. I bought the Bleach London Total Bleach kit and put my hair in Abby's hands. This is how it turned out (picture on the right)...
after 1 bleach
Not great. It actually looked much worse in person. It was patchy and orange, not at all what I wanted.
after 2 bleaches and a tone

After deciding I could not go out in public like that and ordering another box of bleach with next day delivery, we decided to try again...

I definitely recommend not bleaching your hair twice in 2 days because my hair absolutely HATED me, but a sister's gotta do what a sister's gotta do.

So I was left with the picture on the left. Even though this didn't go as planned, I was actually really impressed with the bleach we used. Considering it was shop bought, it massively changed my hair colour and didn't sting while it was on. It also came with a hydrating hair mask which works wonders! I wouldn't use any other hair brand to be honest. I think Bleach London is really cool, it has so many funky colours that I want to try and their instagram is full of amazing hair inspo!

after going to the hairdresser
Eventually though, I admitted defeat and decided to ask my hair dresser to try to get it the colour I wanted. Of course, it was actually impossible to get there straight away because my hair was so damaged from bleaching so much in such a short space of time and neither of us wanted to risk my hair singeing off, but my hairdresser did all she could and I was so happy with the finished product.

So for the past month I've just been looking after my hair as much as possible, using hair masks and the Bleach London silver shampoo to get it as light as possible. I do intend on getting it silver eventually, but I just wanted to give my hair a bit of a break for a while! Overall, I don't regret doing it because I LOVE being blonde but if I was to give any advice, it would maybe be to just go to the hairdressers in the first place if you have dark hair. Yes, it is expensive, but a lot of people end up going anyway to get the colour corrected so it's better to just cut your losses and go in the first place. This is the colour that my hair is currently... quite a difference from my original brown!

SOCIAL MEDIA REVOLUTION?

SOCIAL MEDIA REVOLUTION?
Saturday, 14 November 2015
Read post

There's been so much in the news recently about 19 year-old Essena O'Neill who has raged a one-woman war against social media. Aside from being shocked, it actually made us think a lot about what social media is really about and whether this 'revolution' is a good or bad thing...

Abby
When I first read about Essena O'Neill's radical action to her Instagram account and her emotional Youtube video explaining her reasons behind leaving social I was shocked and confused. How could someone who has everything be so unhappy? She has the perfect body, she's beautiful, she has clothes that some girls could only dream of yet she was lashing out and bad mouthing social media, such as Instagram, calling it a "contrived perfection made to get attention".

I don't know if I fully agree with her public slaying of social media, I follow many Youtubers who are very honest and public about any sponsors they have, they share most of their lives with their online followers to a point where you almost feel like you know them. If these people are being honest and share almost all of their lives with us yet are happy in themselves then maybe it was the way Essena approached social media. There are so many factors that could have caused her to feel the way she is and although social media may be one of them, it's possible that other factors could have caused her constant and obsessive strive for social promotion. Either way social media gave her the confidence she has now and the following/platform that she is now using to start a revolution against social media. There are still so many questions that need to be asked yet she is not responding to any requests for interviews, maybe she feels like she's said all that needs to be said, but I don't think it's right for her to slate all platforms of social media and not accept the consequences that may come with that.

Don't get me wrong, I think she's extremely brave for speaking out about her unhappiness, but I think she should have gone about it in a better way and reached out for help rather than attack social media, for many people social media is a platform for communication, creativity and expressiveness, I just hope that Essena's actions don't effect social media for those it's providing positive aspects for.

Kayleigh
This is something that I, as well as many other people I’m sure, have mixed feelings about.
On the one hand I completely agree with everything that Essena O’Neill has done and said. It can be argued that social media (particularly things such as Instagram) can be quite damaging to young people because they may look at ‘set up’ pictures and wonder ‘why is my life not like that?’ or ‘why don’t I look like that?’ in a similar way to how other media makes young people feel insecure. To combat these feelings of insecurity a lot of young people spend most of their time on social media which can make them alienated from real life. We seem to seek validation from social media to make us feel better – I know from personal experience that I kind of feel disappointed when my Instagram pictures don’t get many likes, to the extent that I sometimes delete them and repost at a ‘peak time’.
As well as this, Essena talks about how a lot of her pictures were actually paid advertisements from companies and this I definitely don’t agree with. As a sociology student, it seems overtly clear that capitalism is seeping in to every single thing that we do.
On the other hand, I actually do enjoy looking at and posting nice pictures on Instagram and I find that a lot of the time it actually cheers me up. I also think that it can be a positive way to network with other people and spread positive messages, such as ones of self-love.
I guess my conclusion would be that we have to somehow find a way to use social media but also keep ourselves distant from it. It must be possible to enjoy posting and looking at images without getting too involved and letting it take over our lives, because at the end of the day we have to remember that it’s not real.

Opinion Post: Tax on Tampons

Opinion Post: Tax on Tampons
Monday, 2 November 2015
Read post

This is kind of different for us because we haven't really spoken frankly about social issues on our blog before, but seeing as how there's this big hurrah surrounding tampon tax in the UK right now, we thought that we would weigh in on the debate.

Now it’s easy for ignorant people to brush this off as “just another feminist problem” but this is something that definitely needs to be taken seriously. Why is it that a lot of men AND women find it so difficult to discuss natural bodily functions? Even those involved in the actual debate, you can tell, found it hard to use words like ‘tampon’ and ‘period’.

This is one of the biggest issues in our society.

People are so concerned with things seeming ‘perfect’ that natural bodily functions have become pushed out and tabooed and this includes menstruation. People are completely fine seeing a pair of naked boobs in their newspapers, but as soon as someone mentions menstruation it’s like a dirty word.

For many, myself included, it’s not purely down to money – it’s the bigger picture. It’s the fact that real luxury items like alcohol jellies and exotic meats are exempt from tax. Trust me (and pretty much every other woman in the entire world) there is absolutely NOTHING luxurious about having a period. It’s emotional, messy and sometimes painful so does it seem fair that we have to pay for it too? It almost feels as if periods aren’t important enough to be catered for, yet razors are? God forbid anyone should have to have unsightly facial hair, but blood in your knickers? Meh, who cares?
But for the people that are concerned about the financial side, it’s perhaps even more unfair. These women are being denied a fundamental human right – their dignity. The Trussell Trust which manages the largest network of food banks in the UK found that 1,084,604 people used food banks in 2014/15. If that many people can’t afford something as essential as food, how on earth are they going to afford ‘luxuries’ like tampons?! Their only alternative is to go without, something that would be considered ‘unhygienic’ by society. It just seems that it’s a lose-lose situation.

Aren’t we supposed to be supporting women? So why is it that they’re being discriminated against in the most basic way?

I have mixed feelings about this, I understand how the taxing of tampons could be considered sexist and quite frankly, ridiculous, however being a 20 year old female student I don't find that it affects me in any way. Before all this publicity of tax and tampons I don't think anyone thought twice about how tampons are taxed, yes we might have complained about how much they are, but we need them so we bought them anyways - and still do.
If we're saying that tampons should be tax free or even free in some instances then soon people will be saying that bras should be free, isn't it the same principle?
However, I do understand why some people are outraged about this and I do agree to some degree. I think the most common question I've heard is 'how is it fair that tampons are taxed? - they are a necessity not a luxury'. Another point I've heard a lot is how men's products, such as razors, are taxed as necessity items instead of luxury yet we find ourselves being taxed for tampons as luxury items yet we can't control this, just like facial hair - and with this point I do agree.
But what happens if tampons do become tax free? Wouldn't we be causing some damage to the companies and products that we know and love? I'm shocked that people think companies such as Tampax should be selling their product tax free, they offer a variety of different products with the most expensive being what I would consider the nicest form of tampon - a scented tampon with a plastic applicator tube. If you ask me, that sounds like a pretty luxury product! I'm not saying that all tampons should be considered a luxury item, but there are certainly some brands & some tampons that have specific qualities that we shouldn't consider a necessity. So, maybe we should get a bog standard option, one with no application device and no option of absorption level that is tax free.
I know a lot of you are going to disagree with me here and that's ok, this is just my honest opinion, I am in no way saying that yours is wrong, please understand that.

Please feel free to share your thoughts on this! We'd love to get a discussion going.

First impressions: Estée Lauder Take It Away

First impressions: Estée Lauder Take It Away

When you order things from the Estée Lauder website they are kind enough to give you some samples of some of their products (amazing, we know)! I got this one free a few weeks ago and I just so happened to run out of Micellar water the other day so I thought that I would give it a go.

I first used this 3 days ago to get rid of my make up before bed and it has changed my life! It literally feels so nice on the skin - not harsh at all - and it gets off all of your make up really quick and easily.
All I did was apply this to my skin when it was still dry and then rinsed it off with a slightly damp muslin cloth and poof, my make up was gone! Now I'm the type of girl that wears 6+ layers of mascara so it usually takes a few minutes of scrubbing to get it all off, but all it took were 2 small blobs of this rubbed over my eyes and my lashes were clump free!
The formula is so nourishing, it literally does feel like a lotion and, like I said before, I rubbed it all over my eyes and it didn't irritate or sting them in the slightest.

I am definitely adding this to my Christmas list and I would recommend picking up a tester the next time you fancy some goodies from Estée Lauder!

5 ways to help you get a good night sleep

5 ways to help you get a good night sleep
Sunday, 25 October 2015
Read post
Uni/college students are renowned for their awful sleeping habits and we're no exception! But we're determined to create some form of routine by the end of the year so we thought that we would write down some tips to remind ourselves of how to get a good night sleep - and hopefully help you guys out too!

1) Turn off your technology
Yes, it is hard. We are the worst for staying on our phones right before we close our eyes! But putting your phone down an hour or so before going to sleep is really beneficial in actually helping you to fall asleep. Plus, it's nice to have an hour a day away from technology, right?

2) Have a bath
Having a bath or a hot shower before bed is the perfect way to wind down. Put on your chill playlist, add some bubbles and feel your muscles relax. Ugh the thought is making us want one right now.

3) Have a hot drink
NOT COFFEE. I REPEAT NOT COFFEE (duh). A cup of tea can pretty much relax us in any situation so it's ideal for making you feel warm and fuzzy just before bed.

4) Make sure there's a nice ambience in your room
When we're in a cosy room it automatically makes us more tired. Turn off your main light and put on a lamp, or fairy lights, or light some candles (or all three). Make sure you're nice and cosy and the rest will come naturally.

5) Read before bed
Instead of succumbing to the temptations of Netflix, read a book instead. It's kinda nice to give your eyes a break from staring at a screen all day, plus reading is so underrated.

We'd love to hear any of your tips for getting a good night sleep, so feel free to share some in the comments! x

Mediocre Make-Up

It's not very often that we find products we don't like, but on the off chance we do we like to share it with you guys so you don't have to endure such disappointments.
Here are just a couple of products that didn't match up to our standards, we hope you enjoy!

Plump it! Volumising lip plumper!
As you already know Kayleigh and I have been on the mission for big lips for many a year! So, when I saw Holly Hogan promoting this lip product on her Instagram, saying it's better than lip fillers, I went straight over to the website and bought one, how couldn't I?! Now, I don't know if it was naive of me to believe her, after all she is a reality TV star with multiple fitness plans and books, but after watching all 10 Series of Geordie Shore I felt like Holly like I could trust her (haha, more fool me!) and didn't think she wouldn't lie to her followers for a few Bob... Boy was I wrong. The product itself arrived very quickly and it was nicely packaged. On first application I was surprised at how much it hurt, the product advises that you only apply 3 clicks worth of product in one application, so me being me I applied it the maximum amount of times so I could get the full effect of the product. The product induces a intense stinging in the lips that lasts a few minutes and my word does it hurt. I was so excited, all I could think was that the more it hurt the more it was doing, this was completely stupid of me. After the stinging sensation stopped there was no noticeable difference to the plumpness of my lips, all this product does is hurt and make your lips go bright red! I've tried it a few more times but can now firmly say that this does not work and is a complete waste of money. I've seen other Geordie Shore and TOWIE cast members promote this product and I'm so shocked at how they can willingly promote a product that is so bad. If I've learnt anything from this it's that you can't trust everything you read on the Internet (Sorry mum, I should have listened to you!).

Makeup Revolution's Salvation Velvet Lacquer - What I Believe
It's quite hard to slate a product that's only £3 because it's such a rarity, but I accept the challenge. I've had some of my best buys from Makeup Revolution but it's hard to try their newest products as they don't seem to update their displays in Superdrug & so I'm left to fend for myself in the world of online shopping. These lip lacquers apply liquid and dry matte for the, I quote, 'perfect matte lip'. It's a given that what you see isn't always what you get and this is especially the case with shopping for makeup online, but when I saw these lip lacquers on their page I had this burst of excitement that these might be ridiculously cheap dupes for Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick! On arrival it wasn't the product that let me down, it was the colour. I was expecting a nude lip lacquer with pink undertones and instead I got a bright baby pink - I was not impressed. I can't really comment on the product itself because I haven't worn it due to the colour (argh!). I still find it hard to understand how this happened as online not only do they have the picture of the product but also a swatch on a hand, I'm honestly bemused. All I can advise is when purchasing this product don't expect the exact colour that you see on the website, I hope I save you a little disappointment.

Are there any products you've been hating on lately? Or perhaps you've had a different experience with the above products? We'd love to hear from you guys! :D

Now this is something that has been all over pinterest/instagram/youtube for a while now. Maybe it's because we're finding it hard to say goodbye to Summer, or because we're lusting after tropical beaches but we've finally come around to loving tropical prints!

We just think it makes a room look really edgy, whether it's just the addition of a few printed cushions or an entire tropical-looking wall, it's enough to brighten up a drab room and banish those Autumn/Winter blues.

As far as we're aware, it isn't easy to find these prints in highstreet shops YET but if you are interested have a look at SOCIETY 6 or on ETSY and you're sure to find some good bits and pieces!

What do you think about the tropical print trend?

Autumn Beauty Wishlist

Autumn is officially here and the weather in the UK has taken a horrible turn (I don't think we'll ever get over the fact that it rains a lot), so we thought what better way to cheer ourselves up than looking at beauty products that we really, really want but can't afford - ha ha!

Seriously though, Autumn is the perfect time for being adventurous with your make up and experimenting with some red/berry colours and our wishlist kind of highlights that. We love wearing a Cranberry lip or a golden eye shadow in the colder months - theres just something nice about wearing warm tones while the weather is cold (the irony!).

We'd love to hear what you're lusting after this season so feel free to leave a comment letting us know!

What we've been watching

What we've been watching

It's the perfect time of year for snuggling down with a nice cup of tea and binge watching a good TV series, so to give you a bit of inspiration we're going to share with you some of the things we've been loving to watch recently!

New girl
This summer I have really been getting back in to New Girl. I used to watch it a few years ago but for some reason stopped, but since I have finished The Office (US) and have been searching for something just as good, I think this is a good alternative. I’m sure most people know but for those of you that don’t, it basically just shows the lives of these five flatmates and their relationships with each other (kind of similar to friends in a way). It’s just one of those TV shows that you can just binge watch on a Sunday afternoon because it doesn’t take too much thought, it’s just light and funny.

Parks And Recreation

This is pretty much the perfect alternative to The Office (I swear we'll stop mentioning it now). It's pretty much the same concept which means it's just as easy to fall in love with the characters, it's so quotable and it's so easy to watch... Plus Amy Poehler is just genius!  If you're stumped for what to watch I would definitely recommend this.

The Bachelorette
Those of you that are from the US will probably know all about The Bachelor/The Bachelorette, but for me it was completely new! I had heard it mentioned by a few American Youtubers before but I didn’t think it was that popular in the UK. Anyways after watching one episode I was absolutely hooked. I mean I’m a sucker for reality TV anyway, but this has everything you would ever want from a reality TV show!

Trainwreck
My little sister actually works at the local cinema and she gets 2 free cinema tickets every week as a staff incentive type of thing and this is one of the films that we went to see together. First of all I just gotta say that anything involving Amy Schumer I’m completely down with, she is everything I want to be and more! But this film is literally the perfect romcom. It made me laugh, it made me cry… it was just perfect. And now I have some weird crush on Bill Hader #SorryNotSorry.

Doctor Foster
This program is based around a Doctor, Gemma,  who finds out that her husband is having an affair. That's all i'll say because if you haven't watch it yet then I don't want to ruin anything for you. All I'll say is that this is the best TV show I have seen in a long long time. It's extremely gripping and you find yourself getting emotional attached to Gemma as you experience the hurt and betrayal of her husband. Tune in to BBC One on Wednesdays at 9 and if you haven't already discovered this ... make sure you watch it on catch up!!

Aquarius
This series is set in LA in the 1960's and is based around a detective searching for a missing teenage girl who is found to be with Charles Manson. This show is very much based around sex, drugs and rock'n'roll with a lot of singing and hippy love. This show is great for those that love a bit of crime drama & with Grey Damon playing a leading roll it provides a great bit of eye candy for us ladies ;D

Benefit Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer
I was very skeptical when purchasing this product as a lot of primers I had already tried always bragged about their staying power, with many of them promising 10 hours plus! However, this product has blown me away... It's quite thick on application, which did worry me at first, but I suppose for a 15 hour primer it has to be! I suppose the real question is 'Does it last 15 hours?' - No... not on me anyways, but it's the best one of it's kind and I would re-purchase this without second thought.

St Tropez Self Tan Dry Luxury Oil
If you're interested and want to know more about this product I did a whole post about it & all it's pro's and con's, if you want to read more just click here! :D

Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette
Now I'm a sucker for a great bargain and this is exactly that. For £8 you get 8 powders perfect for contouring and sculpting, 2 of these being baked highlighters that have high pigmentation and add a beautiful glow to any skin tone! The 3 different bronze colours offer a variety of tones that makes this product beautiful to build and blend. This product is fantastic quality for the price & although I still like to keep my Hoola on hand, I would recommend it to anyone that loves a clean contoured look.

Maybelline Lash Sensational
Oh my.
This product is incredible, it has outshone my once faithful Benefit's They're Real! mascara and is now my every day, every night, every for the rest of my life mascara. I know I'm a bit behind on the hype of this product as I've seen many raving blog reviews, but every time I went to buy it they were all sold out... which can only be a good thing! This mascara is amazing at making lashes look longer and fuller, what more can a girl ask for? If you haven't tried this already you need to, it'll change your life (& lashes) forever.

Seventeen High Drama Intense Liquid Eyeliner
This product is all a girl could ask for when it comes to liquid eyeliner. Never before have I been able to do my eyeliner so quickly let alone evenly! The applicator is quite thick which allows for  precise precision (always good!) and the liquid dries a matte black which I absolutely love!

Accessorize Nail Polish
The packaging of these nail polishes are so so stunning! Priced at £5 but looking double that these nail polishes come in 36 different shades ranging from pastels to glitters. Accessorize have really stepped up their game and I cannot wait to try more! It's hard to comment on their chip resistance as I have acrylic nails and so my nail polish never chips, but I would deffo recommend these to anyone! If you're a nude girl like me I would recommend 'Almond', it's a nude brown with purple undertones... its beautiful!

Soap & glory supercat liquid liner
This eyeliner is possibly my favourite liquid liner that I have ever used in my entire life! I find it so easy to use and the colour is properly black (not some form of grey like so many are). The only thing I would say is that it makes a bit of a mess if you get it on your fingers or smudge it anywhere but other than that it is absolutely wonderful.

Maybelline lash sensational mascara
I have to second Abby on this (yes it's so good it needs to be mentioned twice!).
Beauty bloggers have been going on about this mascara for so long that you’re probably fed up of hearing about it. Unfortunately, I was a little bit late and only just started using it in the past few months BUT IT’S SO GOOD. I’ve read before that it’s a really good dupe for the Benefit Roller Lash mascara and it’s only a fraction of the price!

Plamer’s cocoa butter formula natural bronze gradual tanning moisturiser
This has pretty much been a staple throughout the whole summer. I have been using it every time I shave my legs as a moisturiser because it feels so nice but also on the rest of my body to give it a nice glow. I think this is a good alternative to using an actual fake tan because it is really natural and not too apparent (depending on how often you use it), it just gradually darkens the skin to give a nice natural-looking radiance.

Neutrogena visibly clear pore & shine daily scrub
Recently, perhaps because it’s been summer and I haven’t been wearing as much foundation, I have realised that the main problem area of my skin is really visible pores. Since noticing this I have been doing everything in my power to make my pores seem as minimal as possible. This is one of the products that I have been using every day, twice a day. I find that the little microbeads in the scrub are refreshing on the skin and you can really feel that the skin is being cleaned. It just leaves the skin feeling really smooth and it really does help to tighten pores.

Thank you for reading, we hope you enjoyed it :) We'd love to hear what you guys loved using this summer, feel free to leave us a comment.

Warm Clothes

We'll be honest, the conditions in these student houses are like the Artic. You won't want to put the heating on because you can't afford it, but you'll have an inner battle with yourself.. what if you get frost bite? You can't afford to be in the hospital, what a waste of rent money! So in the end you'll turn it on, but you won't quite have the will power to put it on constant which is what you need with those drafty windows, but you might as well just throw you're money out the window, so instead you put it on a timer which won't make a difference because the house will be so cold that by the time the heating goes off the house is only just warm enough. God, it's been a long two years as you might guess. But now we're in our final year we can firmly say we're pro's when it comes to heating so... just bring layers, it's easier.

Fairy Lights & Candles
So maybe this is more of an essential for girls, but these are the kind of things that make your room feel cosy. There's nothing we love more than whacking on a movie with a few candles & fairy lights with a big mug of tea! It's the little things in life.

Air Fresheners
These are a must. We have about 45248 million air freshers in our house, from plug ins to motion sensors we have them all! You may find that when you move in to your new digs there is a lingering smell of boy, smoke, damp, musk....you're landlord told you he'd give it a deep clean? He lied. Air freshers are an absolute essential when it comes to your house/room, having a nice smelling environment just makes life much happier & comfortable when you're away from home. Wilkinson's, Body Care and B&M are great places to pick up cheap deals for brands such as Glade, Febreze & Air Wick which are our personal favourites.

Alcohol
Obviously.

Mould Remover
We have a very close relationship with Mr Mould, we've had out ups and downs & have been through the toughest of times. We highly recommend taking some mould remover with you as there is a high chance you will, at some point, experience a spot of mould. This is mostly because student houses are quite damp, especially as you'll need to hang clothes near the radiators in winter to dry them, which doesn't help matters... but what's a student to do?

Netflix
Contrary to what people think, being at uni is actually pretty boring during the day. I mean you can't just do work and party all the time can you? You need something to do on those hungover days or the days when you just can't physically bring yourself to do... anything. Netflix is pretty much a necessity if you want to stay sane. Watching countless episodes of The Office is how we got through our first couple of years!
But beware, it's pretty damn addictive!

Patience
If you're a girl living with a boy or a few other guys then this is something you will most certainly need. Be prepared for the mess, the washing up, the smell, the excessively loud (bad) music... you get the picture! Also, don't think it's easy. Maybe you're very independent and love being away from home & being your own person, and that's great! But for others uni is hard. You will have your down days where you miss being at home, miss your mum, miss you boyfriend/girlfriend... just miss the feeling of being around your family and friends. Be patient, those days come and go and a lot of the time you will have good days surrounded by great friends.

Slippers
You don't want to know what's been spilt on those floors and you certainly don't want to know what happened on those floors so let's keep this short. Take slippers, multiple pairs.

Thanks for reading, we hope you have an amazing day wherever you are!
